burnout289's 67 coupe project

No Arning drop at this point. When I redo the front suspension, I'm going with the full Street or Track Bilstein coilover kit and will do 1-1.5" UCA drop.

I could also use new tie rods, but I think it'll be fine for now. I'm not going to worry about it too much until I'm actually driving the car around, but I think it can wait until I do the rest of the front end.

I just got word from Shaun that my springs are estimated to arrive by the end of next week. Hopefully I can install them that weekend. Can't wait, I'm anxious to get back to work on the car again. This was a lot easier when I was working from home.

Well, before I could install my springs, my girlfriend and I broke up and I moved out. Now I'm crammed in a room-for-rent and trying to deal with all my crap that I've accumulated over the years. Once I clear out my boxes from the garage, I can park the old gal in there. For now, she's sitting in the driveway and the poor Subaru has to park on the street.

Of course, this didn't stop me from ordering more! I have Shaun's tubular LCAs and strut rods on the way, as well as a camber plate kit and some new U-bolts for the leafs. I also ordered tommyzee's spring compressor w/ thrust bearing (that should be here later today). Not sure how long for the SorT stuff, but the car isn't going anywhere in the meantime!

After a long wait on a shelf, my Street or Track LCAs and strut rods are finally installed, along with an eccentric eliminator kit. Getting the old ball joints out was a huge pain. Even the pickle fork had some issues due to clearance, so I had to resort to a cutting wheel on one side...that was fun. It took so long, we never got to the leafs or new rear Bilsteins.

Now I have some insane toe-out, but that's a problem for another day. :p

Your car is a diamond in the rough.
Thx for the update.
And keep in mind , first to improve are the brakes , then suspension and then the drive line, like motor and trans.

Nice parts man.
I did place a shim behind the front bolt of the UCA , so I can dial in more caster and keep the front wheel centered in the wheelopening.
I got this tip from John , http://opentrackerracing.com/
Keep up the good work !!

BTW nice weather you have there !!!!

Hahaha yeah, this is winter in Southern California! If you can believe it, today was overcast with occasional sprinkles. Not sure how we survived...

I saw that tip as well, and was planning to do the same once I get the UCAs. Did you go with the full coilover? I saw that some drilling is required for the top mount and am wondering if that affects the export brace mounting at all.

About 1.5 years ago i bought this setup second hand.
You have to drill out that centerring that centers the coil.
You can still use your export brace.

I just picked up new tie rods and sleeves, and have been talking to Shaun about my next steps. Hoping in the next week or two to pull the trigger on the rest of the Bilstein coilover kit. Once this is all installed, along with new rear leafs/shocks, I'll be ready for alignment.
