My new old truck

I've had the whole rear axle out once already when I broke it!!!

Shouldn't be bad then. My ubolts were rusted to the arms. Had to cut them and then beat them top down till they dropped out. Wish I had new springs and shocks to put in while I was in there.

Lucky lol. There was no way I could bust the ubolt bolts. They were on there. Tried for a couple minutes on all 4 and broke out the cut off wheel. My first time with trailing arms. Who would have knew they acted like huge cantilevers lol.

Spoke with Craig on the phone today and we got to talking about my old truck.
I’m still hacking away at it. Installed a new tilt column and steering wheel. Also started putting a set of late model seats in it. It’s a little tighter than what I would have like but the st well. Also finally ditched the old 3 speed 350t and put a 700r4 in it. Stilling finishing up that swap.

Also starting to try to fix the smashed bedside. I bought a set of long bed bedsides for patch material. If it doesn’t turn out to my liking then I’ll still end up putting a full bedside on the driver side.

700R4 is basically a 4 speed turbo 400, correct?

Thread revival...

Still plugging away at this old truck. Pulled the 350/700r4 this morning to make way for a modern LS 5.3/4l60e combo. Hoping to have it all buttoned up by the spring to retire my sunfire.

And the new heart. Still got to cut down the harness and have it reprogrammed. Lots of work ahead.
Bought new engine mounts and transmission cross member from a place called IFS in Texas. https://www.ifabspeed.com/shop
The originals were shot. Spent 45 minutes unbolting the stands from the frame and everything pretty much fell apart when I pulled the engine so I think new was a wise move.

I hope you get it done sooner rather than later if it means freeing you from driving around in a Sunfire! :p

I might be interested in the 350/700R4 if you're looking to sell it (if you haven't already). My Chebbie truck needs an OD and my station wagon needs an engine...

The guy from work has flaked out on me twice now. If you truly want it come and pick it up. We will come to good terms I’m sure.
