On my way to Power Tour..Bowling Green..and

KBMWRS

Welcome truth back
Donator
So I'm driving my Vette from CA to Bowling Green and will meet up with the guys there.

On my way across he country I notice a vibration. I have friends (yeah I really do) in St.Louis and can stay with them so I pull into a Chevy dealer to check it out.
Seems my right rear Michelin tire (just put on before I left) is bad...not really round.
Has anyone heard of 'road force'? The dealer said this tire recorded 33 lbs where the limit for this tire is 18lbs. This is NOT air pressure of the tire.

Anyway. The Vette is up on a rack at the dealer waiting for a new tire to arrive. Now the warranty hassle with Michelin and the dealer.
So my wife and I are at our friend's house wasting time. Hopefully we will make it to BG on Wednesday.

I look at the the big picture and if problems are going to happen this is not too bad.

Mike - sorry to hear about your problems. I don't know a lot about road force, but it has to do with the way the balance these new low profile tires. It sounds like the shop that put them on before you left did not put them on correctly. Most tires are not perfectly round, nor are the wheels. The road force balancing better aligns the tire to the wheel. A quick easy read is here: http://www.motorweek.org/features/goss_garage/road_force_balancing

Hope you get back on the road soon....stay safe!

got the car back. $600+ $400+ was the tire. Chevy dealer is dealing with Michelin and will get something back from them. Back On the Road. Heading for BG in the morning.

If the dealer with the tech to check for road force ( most tire shops don't have the tech) didn't check for proper road force before allowing a performance car such as your vette and then let you drive off, they should cover the entire cost!

Get Toni to jam 'em up for you!

Be safe out there!

sorry about your tire, glad you got it fixed. It's been HOT, hope the ride to BG is smooth. It's only about 5 hours drive or with the Vette maybe 3...

Sorry to hear about your tire troubles. These are the small things. Let it roll off your back like water on a duck's back...

back in the old days, most tire shops would have the tires trued. some tires have been known to have 1/4" of tread shaved off the tire to make them round again.

Look who came knocking on my front door!
