Re-restoration in progress for some vintage racing

that sucks! My wife is about the only one who will do things with me!
My wife doesn't like any of my car stuff. She will go to some car shows with me but really doesn't get into it.

She's not coming in the power tour. 4 days in the mustang driving would cause us a divorce.

I agree, that sucks! Better safe then sorry with all the work you have put into the car. Another opportunity will come up.

Tire porn!

Made it out to the track last Friday. It wasn't very productive. Spent some time bedding in the brakes and then after turning a few hot laps, gear oil started coming out of both rear axle seals. It would get on the 11" drums and make the most beautiful, giant cloud of smoke coming out of the corners.

No video. Not sure why, but the camera did not turn on. It worked fine in the garage before I left. Working on that one too.

The motor was AWESOME! That thing is a freak'n beast. The seat was very comfortable and it handled soo much different than before. It really is a "new" car and will take some adjustment on my part. I will say that it was hard for my brain to keep up with all the info coming in at such a fast pace. Don't do drugs kids...nothing good comes from it. Well, except for that saving my life shit.

Going to try again this Friday. I got the seals replaced today and adjusted on my brake pedal height. Hopefully the car AND I will be OK to go to Hallett in 2 weeks!

Nice. It would have been great for someone to get a pic of you with the giant smoke cloud behind you. Is there something else going on in the rear end to get fluid that far out?

Long corners with high G loads will do it.

Great to hear you got on track, Mark! Looking forward to some pictures from your next outing. I will have to live vicariously through your track days. My money situation has changed and I may not make it back out for a year or two.

How was the convertible allowed on the track without a roll bar? Looks like they are going faster then a parade lap!

If Bob was there, they weren't going fast!
IIRC, I got black flagged and warned for exceeding the group speed limit down the front straight. Only place we were allowed to pass, and the friggin 'vert was in my way until then!!!
I know there's internet video somewhere out there...

MCA 40th @ Nashville... 2004/2005? They were a little loose with the rules.
'04, the event that started me down this path. My daughter was a Mustang nut since she was a baby. Begged me to go see the Mustangs. We went, I caught the fever and the rest is histoire.

Let's take another stab at this sucker. Sometime in August I'll tear it all back down and find why it's blowing water out of the pipes. I suspect the intake is not aligned to the heads. That happened when I was the sickest and was not able to help my friend. The tranny is dry thank goodness, but there is a small pan leak.IMG_2089.JPG IMG_2090.JPG IMG_2092.JPG IMG_2087.JPG
