AIR COMPRESSOR UPGRADE

WHAT ARE Y'ALL USING? GOING TO A 60 GALLON AND I'M LOOKING AT THE SINGLE STAGE 3.7HP 11.5 CFM @90 FOR $500 VS A DUAL STAGE 5HP 15 CFM @90 FOR 800. BOX STORE BRAND VS CP AT HARBOR FREIGHT (MADE BY QUINCY). I KNOW....MORE POWER. REALISTICALLY IT WON'T SEE MUCH USE REQUIRING THE EXTRA POWER BUT I AM GETTING READY TO START THE SANDING AND ULTIMATELY PAINTING OF THE TRUCK. OTHER THAN THAT A SMALL COMPRESSOR HANDLES MOST OF WHAT I DO JUST FINE. WILL I MAX OUT THE SINGLE STAGE ON THE TRUCK? WHAT SAY YOU? I GUESS I'M GOOD AS LONG AS I GET THE PROJECT DONE WHILE COMPRESSOR UNDER WARRANTY.

Tank size is the most important feature for hobby guys like us that won't be using it all day everyday. My 80 gallon allows me to do a lot of work with air tools and such for quite a while in between compressor cycles limiting wear-n-tear. I probably use it more than most and mine is still running like new after almost a decade. Bought it at Lowes (house brand not sure now who actually made them back then for Lowes)

Wife bought me a 60 gallon kobalt from Lowe’s for my birthday last year. It was a huge upgrade from my 26 gallon job. I use every tool in my disposal without issue.

Has it run a length of time say with a sander? I'm thinking that will suffice. I may have found a gently used dual stage 5hp like I mentioned earlier for 500. I get the tank size Terry but the dual stage pushing the air allows for more cfm. I've pretty much burned my 20 up.

Mines a single stage. I’ve run a DA for quite some time with it without issue. But a dual stage will be better. Wife bought mine so I got what she paid for lol.

Sorry for a hi-jack but, I have an old compressor that I am going to scrap the motor. Is it worth the effort to plumb the old tank is series with my other compressor's tank?.

Bigger tank volume means the compressor won’t run as often. No harm with more air supply!
