Star Wars VIII

I enjoyed it for what is was. I realize it just a money grab at this point. And that they needed the original characters gone to start a new story line. For what it was it was worth the watch to me.

So you don't believe a person could watch it, and come up with that on their own? Did you watch the movie at all? What about this rich, corrupt city, where arms dealers sell to both sides? You just automatically assume that I repeat something from the news? Wowzers

No...it was just like I just heard that same critique and mentioned it that's all. and to quote you....Wowzers

Well to me, that just shows there's something to it, and not just something you heard on Fox News. You didn't just mention it. You told me that's where I heard it, which isn't the same.

I haven't seen it yet but my son has and he enjoyed it. I have enjoyed all the Star Wars movies but only as entertainment. You can never take Hollywood to seriously! Most movies have an agenda but I try to overlook that. I'll still go see it, mostly because I have seen all the others

It’s pretty bad, and the whole movie carries a very strong Hollywood liberal agenda, which isn’t surprising given that it’s now Disney. Aside from that, the story line was pretty weak and predictable, but never fear! All the women come in to save the day after the men totally screw it up. Lol
So basically the Brady Bunch in space.

Trying to avoid a spoiler here.
The part that made absolutely no sense is why the one female authority figure didn't just tell her male subordinate what she was planning. There was no downside at all to doing so and it wouldn't have left him feeling he needed to take action because the problem was being ignored.

I liked it overall but had a pretty big issue with a couple plot points. First on my list is just the timeline issue (which I won't bring up to avoid spoilers I guess). Second is the one brought up by JD08:

Literally all she had to say was "trust me I have a plan". Didn't even have to tell him. But it was stupid suspicious not to say anything at all! Purple Lady's role could have been easily played by Leia IMO and then they wouldn't have had to introduce this other lady that I didn't care about or know anything about.

Still don't like Poe. Wish that Finn had stayed as interesting as in TFA. Rey and Kylo's stuff I REALLY liked a lot and thought it was really well done. Also thought that the battle scenes were pretty awesome. The more recent Star Wars films have really done a good job taking the kind of rinky-dink kiddy war that the original Star Wars movies showed to the audience - nobody important dies, the good guys always win by a long shot, any death is shown just very fleetingly so you're not too uncomfortable - and making them feel more war-like with actual consequences for bad decisions.

Hey...episodes 4,5,6 had awesome affects in the movies at the time. Now its all cartoon/animated.

I'm not saying 4, 5, and 6 weren't awesome and didn't have good effects! I'm saying they were just real good at glossing over everything but the nice parts. I mean that dude Red Five may be the only person I can think of whose death was even mentioned in a space battle in any of them. Kind of like how an entire planet exploding only bothered a couple people somehow.
