Shelby drop and lowering spring

Not having a rotisserie, I got skinny and welded mine in with the car sitting on all four wheels.

And I do try to be logical but more importantly, I spend sometimes months researching major stuff I buy or do to my car. That includes the Net and talking to lots of people with experience on the subject. Plus lessons I've learned over the years. If you read enough, talk enough and have a decent mind for the stuff you can generally come out with the right solutions. Obviously {.}'s parents took the easier path to child rearing. Now we in the mustang society have to pay the price.

In addition as my car is complete. I would think that it's not best to weld on the lower skins unless I remove the carpet?

Yes, as well as being extremely careful near the gas tank and fuel lines.

Fuel lines and brake lines for sure as you will be near both. The gas tank is pretty far from any welding but obviously you want to have someone on "fire watch" and keep an eye on any sparks flying near flammable things. That would include undercoating and sound deaden-er in the car (ask me how I know). I would at least remove the seats, carpet and any hush mat or whatever type of mat from the floor.

Even if you don't weld the lowers skins: should I still remove the carpet?

well you will be welding at each end of the frame, the rear rail will be under the seat but the fronts end about where your feet go. I wouldn't risk it. It doesn't take long to do a lot of damage if that carpets starts burning

Pulling the carpet back is not that hard to do. Pull the seats, pull the kick panels and sill plates and you've got it. It will give you a chance to see what hides under the carpet too!

Not sure if I want too!! Lol!

If you are welding to the floor pan, yes. Leave it all in at your own risk. Have someone standing by with a fire extinguisher!

highly recommend this!!!! I caught my 67 on fire and ruined some paint which had to be fixed. If I had someone watching and prepared it wouldn't have hurt the car.

Large quantities of beer nearby is also recommended. When the fire extinguisher craps out, you can pour the beer on the fire. If it doesn't, you can drink it until it is gone.

What about the rear seats? And rear carpet?

Also again if I'm just welding to the frame and I remove the forward carpet is that good enough?

I think we all agree it's not worth the risk to leave any of it in the car when welding underneath but it's your call

Remove any fabric materials, carpets, underlayment, sound deadening materials, etc. on the floor pans; they will likely catch fire due to the heat of welding. Glass is particularly susceptible to welding splatter; at least put your side windows in the fully down position. You're unlikely to get weld splatter on the windows working below the car, but it is better to be overly cautious than to take unnecessary risks. Have wet rags handy in addition to the fire extinguishers and beer.

8 nuts for the seats, 8 screws for a console if you have one, 4 bolts for seat belts, carpet lifts right out...priceless.

Leave everything in...worthless.

10/4. Everyone, obviously I feel like I'm working backwards with with car but it's fun to continue to upgrade everything.

Here an old pic of the bottom of my car before I bought it.
