Snow Plow took out my mailbox

Went to Florida for a few days to visit my parents. Come home this morning and the mailbox and post is mangled and on the ground. Just great! It's 2 degrees, the ground is frozen solid and the post office will probably leave me a nasty note tomorrow when they go back to work.

Fuckers.

I still have to give props to the road crews. They do a really good job of clearing the roads after a snowfall.

Dude how are they going to leave you a nasty note you have no mailbox to put it in. Just put on your big boy pants and suck it up. Just dig a hole in your snow bank or pile up some snow and mount your mailbox in on top of it. By the way I'm a f##$&er that work for the PO and we're sick and tired of taking you 1 or 2 pieces of mail out to BFE daily.

ok so scratch Grabber's itch, let's all send Mark 10 letters for a week.
Mark, you need to build a brick mailbox house and reinforce it with 3" thick steel.

If it wasn’t minus a gozillion degrees, I’d have already replaced it.

I don’t live in BFE anymore. I’m a towny since moving to Ames (5yrs ago). My plan WAS to replace the post and add a bigger mailbox so the trolley truck driver didn’t have to get out to deliver the packages too big for the current box. But Grabber’s whiney ass comment has changed my mind. Screw those PO delivery dogs

Oh yeah, the “fuckers” comment was directed at the plow guy.

Not really that upset.

Unless those mail delivery rats leave me a note

Watch, you'll get a bill from the county for damaging their truck. Then you'll get a late fee since the PO can't deliver it since you don't have a mailbox. I can see this going down the rabbit hole lol.

it would not surprise me.
Last place I stayed in CA, the trash truck came by to empty the dipsy dumpster and totally fouled up one of the doors. It won't close and when this happened, he ripped the lag bolts on the hinge out of a 2x4. I suspect it will take another couple of months to 1) get it fixed (by the homeowner's association) and for the trashtruck company to argue and finally pay the fees for repair. Don't we live in a great country?

Have some fun with it. Make the mailbox like the roly-poly toy and it will right itself after the next collision. Depending on whether you are in a blue or red state, you could put Obama's or Trump's likeness on it and they would aim for it.

Only in Ames. Plow driver just came to the door. Said he backed into it this morning. Brought some material to do a temporary fix, it’s -20 wc out there. Gave me his business card and said he’d pay for a new one come spring. Told him I appreciated him owning up and said that was enough.

Lucky for you I'm not a "delivery dog". Also if you were closer I'd give you some smoked cheese to go with your wine that started all this. Seriously though I'm a maintenance technician for the PO, working on the sorting machines in a major distribution hub. I'm also looking forward to the day I can tell them to take this job and shove it. Also kinda nice to see there are still people in this world that will own up to there mistakes.

What was funny tonight...when the driver stopped by, he said he wanted to do a temp fix so the PO would deliver the mail. He said if the box was on the ground tomorrow, they’d just pass it by

What's this "snow" thing, and why does it need to be plowed? Never heard of it...
