Windshield repair

I have an appointment at Safelite today to repair a couple of rock chips in my truck's windshield. Has anyone had experience with this before?

I have experience; several years ago, when I was a young pup, I threw a number of rocks at my windshield so I could have it replaced for free. Do you need advice as to how to proceed? Pick up a large rock in your right hand, cock your arm, aim squarely at a picture of your ex that you taped to your windshield, and let loose.

Later, I had the windshield folks add acrylic to the glass to repair a very small chip/gouge. It worked well, but it was right in my line of sight while driving, so although the distortion was minimal, I had the glass replaced as well.

Safelite usually does a pretty good job in my experience. I've also filled a couple stars and chips in the windshield when I'm too lazy or poor to pay someone else to do it. I had a giant star in the Escape's windshield and it is definitely still visible. I'm told that if I had let the Safelite guys do it, they would have made it disappear.

I must have filled 30 or so chips in Jane's windshield over the past few years and it always went fine. If I can do it, those guys definitely can.

just got back - there were 6 stars, and it was cheaper to replace the windshield. Smooth as silk. Safelite did a great job.
I also ordered a set of new roof marker lamps and a tailgate trim piece and bought a set of those window ventshades. Next is replacing the power steering fluid to see if I can get the moaning to stop - it is also very hard to steer when the truck is cold. Ordered a new set of tires, these: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...75R6AT51&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

They should arrive and I can get them installed tomorrow.
By the way, I have named my truck Doug in memory of my brother.
