Solar power

Not for the Mustang, for my house. Anyone else have solar panels? We had 2 salespeople at our house and one done with email. 3 different companies and 3 different placement of the panels on the roof.
The other thing that really did not make sense to me is that the power company really does not want to buy my extra juice if I understood the salesdude correctly. We plan to purchase about 20 panels or so. That will enable us to run the air conditioning without that killer bill at the end of the month. Are there independent companies out there that can help with the optimum placement of the panels?

I have but that won't help you any further.
Info of how to setup your installation is on the internet available.
Depends on whats you position on the globe.
BTW out here in Belgium , we have to pay for using their network. ( calculated on how much wattage your converter is )
Because I am one of the first people who put solar panels on his roof (2009), I get $400 from the company/governement for every 1000 Kwh I produce.
So , I make a profit of about $1500 a year . :p

salesdude may be right about the power company not wanting to buy your excess power production, but they are forced to by law. as for the optimum placement of the panels themselves, there should be companies out there that can tell you the optimum placement of the panels. check the rosie on the house website https://www.rosieonthehouse.com/ for a rosie certified contractor in your area who deal sin solar power. rosie has been in the home improvement business for a long time, and he puts his referrals through a rigorous examination before making them a rosie certified partner.

I have them. I like them. It takes roughly 10 years to pay back.

When I sell the house and buy another I'm going to try and find one that has solar.

The person that makes out is the one that buys the house with them installed already not the original buyer.

Tim:

I know some folks that have home solar systems and are pleased with the ongoing savings over PG&E. Lots of variables and ways to "own" your system. If you are comparison shopping, make sure you do your homework including ROI, spec out your system, (brand and type of panels, number and type of inverters, battery storage if any, rebates, warranties, post installation servicing, and the permit requirements from your City building department). Have each contractor bit your spec. Check all Contractors' License status with the Contractors' State License Board before making your decision.

Let us know how it goes.

I have a coworker that sales and installs them. But we are all the way in KY...

Jeff is spot on.

Two things I would do different is I would have paid cash and I would have put a battery backup in. Having the battery backup means I don't have to be on the grid.

In Utah with Rocky Mountain Power you get a one for one deal and they start over every April. So not perfect.

They take time to pay back and some people lease them from the power company. Stay far far away from this option. Get panels with the longest warranty possible.

Our system is monitored by the company we bought from and I have an app on my phone.

Hope this helps.

I had a 4kW system on what is the ex’s. I had the perfect setup. Unobstructed south facing roof. Would produce 22 kW hours per day on average.
Petersen dean is good.

We've been talking about getting solar, since they put a new roof installed before we bought the house. I need to more research before I start getting bids for it.

I'll probably wait till after the summer since my last electric bill was 70 bucks and we've had the a/c on for the last month.

You are not in Long Beech any more. Gets a little warm up there in the summertime. I have Riverside electric here, not edison. Seems that they base the amount of panels you can have by the power you use. So I guess the plan is to use the a/c more and pay a higher electric bill so we can get more panels. Or something like that.

I am considering putting a solar panel farm on my property. I will likely place the panels on brackets on the ground.

That seems odd. If you are getting a Tesla Supercharger station installed in your house to run your upcoming "fleet" of plug in electric cars, you can't plan ahead? lol
