just earlier today I watched a show on going to the moon. I had the pleasure of working with other engineers on the Shuttle program.

Thanks to all involved to make it real.

Your dedication made our dreams become true

Way back in 1991 , my wife and I went to Florida and we had the luck to see a shuttle launch life.
A thursday in september 1991 as I can remember.

I got to see Columbia land at Edwards Air Force Bese and my Thermodynamics instructor was one of the main engineers who worked on making the engines work.

I am not worthy......

We did visit Kennedy Space Center back in 1991.
Very impressed seeing a rocket engine nearby , saturn rocket laying down , that thing that transported STS-48 to the launch platform.
It was thursday 12th of september 1991 when we saw the launch of Discovery in the afternoon.
Never forget that.

Only time I've seen the shuttle in person was when it made a pit stop at Columbus air force base on the back of a 747. Got to watch it fly over the house. As a kid, watching that gargantuan thing actually airborne was mesmerizing.

One of my heros in life was Neil Armstrong. I never saw a launch or landing in person, but I saw many on the TV. In my opinion the tax dollars used going into space is money well spent.

Don't forget the commercial guys. SpaceX has done some amazing stuff, like the tail first landings. Their latest announcement:
SPACEX TO SEND PRIVATELY CREWED DRAGON SPACECRAFT BEYOND THE MOON NEXT YEAR

very true, and in more ways than one too. miniaturization, carbon fiber, reliable electronics, tang, and a myriad of other things that we take for granted today but had to be invented to make the space program work.
