After Slick Sand -- SPI Epoxy or 2k Urethane for 400 blocking

I'm about done shaping the car with Slick Sand.

I'm about to the point where I can start to 400 block it but I was wondering what product I should use for that step?

I have SPI 2k Regular and SPI Epoxy.

The hitch, I did cut through to the metal in a couple small areas (stuff on contour ridges where the paper rubbed in). They arent big areas but I am a little paranoid about them. If 2k is what I should use for 400, should I spot shoot the cut throughs to make sure they're sealed?

Unless the 2K primer you are using is considered direct to metal, then you'll want to avoid using it on larger exposed metal areas. If they ridge lines that stand proud, or susceptible to chipping I would spot prime those first with epoxy, then spray the entire car with 2K urethane for final blocking. Once you are all blocked out, if you cut through again, you could coat the exposed metal again with epoxy which helps to visually check your final surfaces. Prior to base coat color, you'll want to shoot a sealer coat... which can be a thinned coat of epoxy. Usually the color coat is shot shortly after seal coat, but if you're having someone else do the color later, seal it anyway so that you've protected your bodywork, then it should just need a scuff / clean before color.

Sanding is so relaxing though, until you sand through to bare metal. Then it becomes the worst thing on Earth and the sanding block is the obvious culprit.

Can you share the name of the drugs you're on? I hear sanding is the worst part of body work!

You're right, sanding can be rough because it takes awhile. But I think I'd rather be sanding smooth clean slicksand/primer then scraping old gunk/rust/paint off the underside of the car.

But a glass of scotch and some music does help ease the monotony.

Smooth clean slicksand? You sanded on ss yet :-D It orange peels like no other. Granted....once you get through that then yeah it's alright.

I is sometimes therapeutic to throw in my headphones, put the amazon music on the classic rock station, and drift off for X number of hours.
