Shop jacks

Harbor Freight for anything but disposable tools, is not a practice I could recommend...
I have a JEGs racing aluminum floor 3T floor jack. Have had it now for almost four years, easy on the arm and light weight (49lbs).
Definitely would take a look if I were you...

I hear you but go look at their jacks. Mine are used ALL the time for a variety of vehicles and not an issue. EVER. Right now their 1.5 ton rapid pump aluminum is on sale for $70. Why spend hundreds more? Spend that cash on going faster!

We all get the opportunity to spend our money as we see fit, going faster is always a good choice!
I can't see saving $100 for HF overseas produced tools where their failure can result in catastrophic consequences. HF also sells extremely cheap torqu wrenches; but I wouldn’t mess with one of those either.
You are a far braver man than I...

I'd rather spend more money on a jack that won't collapse on me when I don't want it to. Accidents do happen, and going cheap on raising/lowering a vehicle is not an area that I want to cheap out on.

What part of my "review" did you guys miss where I wrote about the years (just shy of a decade now) have I been using these jacks without an issue? And as far as accidents go you should never work under a car sitting on a jack in the first place. A jack is to lift the car so you can place a jack stand or similar to support the load safely.
I'm not selling anything here. Just giving my actual experience on something as asked. Sorry it defies your preconceived notions of something you have obviously ZERO firsthand knowledge or experience.

Just because you choose to use their overseas junk in a load bearing way, don't hate on me cause my choices are different than yours...
Somebody has to put the jack stands under the car...
I do have firsthand knowledge, so it is you with the preconceived notion about whether or not I have experience with a Chinese cheap jack failing, yeah it happens. Glad your luck has held out so long.. peace...

I’ve had my HF low profile for 5 plus years. I’m not promoting it over any other. But I’ve had no issue. It’s my go to jack.

Not trying to start an argument just pointing out my actual experience and defending it against comments made by persons (in this case, Randy) who have obviously never owned or used one. I will say though, if you have had a HF jack fail on you share the tale although I'm thinking you would have earlier if that was the case.

If you peruse these forums you will find dozens of instances where I rant about using inferior stuff vs the better known, or proven brands. In those instances where I might have looked at something cheaper but found it to lack in quality I get vocal but do so with actual experience. That's what a forum like this can be used for in a good way. Get feedback from guys you "know" who can give you firsthand opinion instead of having to risk taking something you read on an unknown site from some unknown guy as gospel. Just because something is sold at HF and made in China doesn't mean its always complete crap. Look around you right now. How much stuff do you use everyday that is made in China. is it all crap too? You do know where iPhones, for example, are produced, right?

I wouldn't use an iPhone in a situation where my life depended on its structural integrity, that argument is just silly. I have had a cheap jack fail on me, do I need to share that tale here, nah...
My point being is that you use what you are comfortable using, I do the same, I spend money where safety is important. As an Army vet, in many cases, I have seen the cheap or easy way of doing things have horrific consequences.
I am quite sure neither Randy nor I used any blanket statements around all Chinese parts being crap; same with HF. I buy a lot of throw away, or single use tools there, love the place. Torque wrenches, engine hoists floor jacks, uh-uh, no way. As I stated before, I sincerely hope your luck holds out, for your sake. First hand experience has educated me to where I will spend a few extra dollars for peace of mind. Best to you.

I love HF stuff. I have this combo Propane grill/Mig Welder from there. You never realize how convenient something is until you try it.

But I wouldn't ever use their hammers. If I'm gonna smack something against something I prefer to use Snatch-on or Crapsman.

Personally I've had no issues with the jack I posted. I have had issues with the last two Craftsman jacks we purchased, both have problems getting it up and keeping it up. In searching for jacks I wanted a good American made one but couldn't find any that were manufactured here. Wanted to go with finding a good old American made jack and refurbishing it but after searching for a suitable one for over a year on Craigslist, etc. I just needed something that worked.

I brought the one they sell at Costco 4 years ago. Works great I believe the brand is Arcan.
