New Project! 1968 Volvo P1800 "Bullwinkle"

I also like the contrast of 3. But 1 isn't bad at all. If the bumpers will be chrome along with a few other things, I think chrome mirrors is the way to go.

Here is another option. Moving the bullet style to the fender. Very retro.

Putting them out far on the fenders brings it that much closer to vintage Aston Martin territory. 007...look out!

Just use an ultra-wide rear view mirror on the header above the windshield and do away with the side mirrors.

Personally, I like the English-style fender mounted mirrors.

Here are a couple pictures and a short video of the chassis strengthening and the front clip installation. There is still some extra bracing and plating to do but progress is being made.

We need more space for the tires!

The shock mounts are going in now along with some reinforcement to the mounting point. This is going to be one tight engine compartment. Feels like we are trying to stuff 10 lbs of s$&@ into a 5 lb bucket. I am going to have to get creative with the AC compressor fittings as well as the PS return line.

The bracing will soon come out to make room for the engine.

I also got the final rendering back. I had it done to mostly check on how it will look when done and to play around with easy changes. Here it is.

My car is almost done with the suspension mods but I have started on a few more. I decided to up the power and will be putting on a set of the new AFR LS3 heads, Yella Terra roller rockers and a Fast 102 intake. From what I have researched this combo with my cam should yield a little over 600 hp.

I met a guy that does design work at The Roadster Shop and he is helping me with some final decisions. He took the photos of my car and did a fantastic rendering of the end result. This will allow me to change the color or details before it is finalized. It will look killer when done!

I want to get some input on my mirror selection though. I have 3 choices I am mulling over right now.
1 is the classic chrome bullet
2 is a 2nd generation Camaro mirror that would be body color
3 is a chrome rectangular one like the original.

What do you think?

#1 - no doubt.

The mock up engine is back in the car. It looks like I will also have to modify my oil pan to clear the steering rack. The good news is I think the accessory drive setup will work just fine. The AC lines will be a bit of a challenge but doable.

I have not. I thought of a few names over the past couple years but noting seems quite right. I guess when it is painted and at home it may come to me. I will keep “Beastie Boy” as an option. Thanks!

You will have an 'Epiphany' and the name will come to you.

It's kind of ahead of it's time. It is going to be a real hand full. So I say IT is a good name or the Swede like from that Clint Eastwood movie.
