Ford Mondeo

I have been overseas this month. Currently in Sweden but while I was in Germany I had a cool rental car. Ford Mondeo “ Combi” or stationwagon. AWD Diesel with 6 speed manual trans. Now why don’t they offer such a car in the US?

Almost every car we saw in Paris and Morocco were manual. I think the electric car we rented for four hours was an auto.

They have these electric plug-ins in town placed like the take and rent bikes. Cool idea.

I like the idea of a wagon and like the manual diesel combination.

Wagon or stationwagon are popular for quite some time overhere.
Many lease cars are stationwagons. Most are/were diesels (till now) and manual.
Driving a diesel is more fun due to the torque you have in the lower rpm's.
But faremost diesel were bought because of having better fuel economy and cheaper at the pump.
Nowedays its only interesting when driving alot of mls (Kms) due to higher taxes on diesel cars.

I must say we have some cool cars only in America but there are tons of really cool cars not available in US.
Wagons are very popular in Europe for sure.

in 2000, I rented an Opel Vectra stationwagon that had a twin cam 1.6L four cylinder and a 5 speed manual. When I picked it up, it had 30 km. I could not keep up with the Mercedes, BMWs and Porsches on the audobon. Nonetheless, it was a fine vehicle. GM screwed it up and offered the Saturn L200 here in the USA.

Wagons are nice.

We can't get the wagon, or the manual version here.

Although wagons are starting to make a comeback over here.

Or the diesel. A diesel wagon with a manual is so cool but none of those options are offered. We can get AWD eco boost in the Fusion but it’s an auto trans 4door sedan.
