Bought a boat...

I know, I know. Wife has taking all access to money away from me lol.

Anyhow. She’s a 99 Chris Craft 190 Bowrider. Previous owners really neglected her IMO. Guy I bought her from was fishing out of her lol. Anyhow, she was/is extremely dirty.

Pics the guy sent me when I was looking to buy her.

Wife couldn’t see the potential in her through the grime but I saw a decent interior and a hull that needed love. After testing her on the water and it running out stellar, I bought her and brought her home.

7 hours on the interior over several days later...

Her maiden voyage last weekend that was filled with tons of newbie blunders lol.

Good for you. Great family experience. Get ready for all the infamous sayings about boat ownership.

When we had the Mastercraft PS 190 ski boat, it was the best use of money of anything we’ve ever done. We had so much fun skiing! Family, friends and even strangers. Had it for 6 yrs and sold it for what we paid for it. I sure miss that boat. It was the Ferrari of the water.

Have fun Bill. Nice score!

Very nice! A diamond in the rough.

We have had our boat for 12 years and still love it. It's an 07 Regal about the same size.

Enjoy the family time on the water. And yes everyone will tell you all the horror stories about cost, breakdowns, etc. Just ignore them.

Cool. Hope you and the family have the opportunities to really enjoy it.

I am always amazed at the pictures people post in ads and the condition in which they leave things when selling. Clean stuff up and not only will it sell easier you likely can command a fair amount more cash. I just don't get it.

I know. Guy listed it Sunday morning and I was bringing it home Monday evening. Boat still has an 8-9k NADA and every listing I find for a comparable is 10-11k. He listed it at 2700 just because it was so nasty...

the two best days of owning a boat, the day you buy it, and the day you sell it.

and dont forget that the word boat stands for;

Bust
Out
Another
Thousand

enjoy it while you have it.

Yup. And this boat has been neglected. Got some Mantainence items that will need to be done this winter. Installed a new fuel sending unit tonight and got the gas gauge working.

Still need to figure out why the trim gauge is only reading in the up position. It was working when I tested the boat.

Tach didn’t work so that’s another issue I will address in the fall.

Regals are very nice boats. Love the looks of them. I had my heart set on a Bryant or a Crownline for some reason. After it’s all said and done I’m happy to not have a boat payment lol.

That's a good way to get into boating.

I wanted to go used and pay cash, but when we looked at new my wife talked me into it. She was afraid we would have lots of problems. We got a full 5 year warranty and paid it off in 3 years. It's been a great boat.

That’s what we had planned on originally, but I thought this was an awesome buy. We will see how it works out. Anytime you can immediately gain 5k in equity in anything is a good day in my book. Hopefully it continues to work out.
