CA wild fires

Aren't Californians irate about all the fires? Year after year after year? Is there not political discussion about the failures at election time? The rest of us sitting around the country get fed all these images and told of the devastating costs, etc. but I will admit I feel no sympathy anymore. I actually get pissed off knowing that my insurance rates will climb again because of it, yet I have little I can do from my seat. I equate this very much to how I felt when we were told on the nightly news about how those hearty souls in NO planned to rebuild after the hurricane. WTF! STOP allowing people to build below sea level...at the edge of the sea!!!

Sure, most of the normal people are fed up with the actions of the state and feds with regards to our forest management. But, you must remember the controlling voting block lives in major metropolitan cities, and until last week, they were unaffected. I spent the last week in the LA/San Diego area and the majority of the coverage was the Malibu fire...how poor movie stars were loosing their homes. There was little to no coverage of the Camp fire in Northern Ca. Years of the Sierra Club and others controlling how we manage (or don't manage) our forests have led us here. Programmed logging would certainly help reduce the fires, you would be amazed at how overgrown they are. We have very little power to combat these massive blazes due to the dead trees, undergrowth, etc.

Trust me, I try to vote these idiots out of office every election cycle. I never get a winning candidate.

Mel, Tim, & Bill: You are aware that Moonbeam has NO JURISDICTION over federal lands when it comes to forest management and fire suppression policy? The current fires are the culmination of decades of mismanagement. There is enough malfeasance for all leadership to shoulder the "blame" here.

I’m sure the feds shoulder a lot of blame, but California has tried to act as country all its own as of late. The leadership there is horrible imo, but I’m just an old country boy that clinging desperately to my guns and religion... lol.

Canada free press was a good read.

“Excess timber WILL come out of the forest in one of only two ways. It is either carried out or it burns out,” McClintock added.

Can you see me jumping up and down waving my arms look here.

It's what happens when you refuse to clear the dead brush, make fire breaks, use less flammable building materials, waste tax dollars on stupid shit, etc...

This used to happen (probably still does) every couple of years in Florida after all the damn yankees started pouring in. They stopped clearing the dead brush and spent all the money on alligator habitat. Was a volunteer firefighter for years and we expected to fight the big fires all too often. They'd plan for hurricanes but when it came to fire, it was the Three Stooges all day long. It was all about the appearance.
