1973 Mach 1 Mustang

So I bought this car back in September for 3000 dollars, it had not run since the 80's. It's got a red body, green hood with silver. Green doors. So my parents have a joke that its a Christmas car. My plan for this car is to get enough money first, then second do all the body work myself, sheet metal work all the way down to the Paint. I know this is a big step for just being a second project. My 1967 Mustang being the first. But I plan on painting her Midnight Blue with the silver (argent) stripe on the hood and 70 Stripes down the side, and possibly an argent stripe across the back. I am really thinking about trying to make this MY car. I don't want it to be somebody else's idea, because any car person i've talked to has told me to make the car I want it. Don't make it to fit in the crowd or anything. Do it the way you want it to be done. So I am thinking that for all the lettering or words, such as Mach 1, would be in old English. I am also considering giving it different rims other then the original Mags. some of you may think im crazy or stupid for even thinking it, but I think it will look good and its how i want it. Lol.

Just figured I'd let yall know what im about to get into and throw my ideas/plans out there and get other peoples opinions, hints, tips, ideas. Thanks to those who read this far. :ecit

Got some pictures of it for yall.

I think you should get a life size Santa to put in the drivers seat and tie a fake reindeer to the front. Just my opinion.....

Take it from a guy with an E-car coupe, do what you want! You'll be happy.

Looks pretty solid in the pics, I see it's a 4 speed car, what engine? 429/460's fit real nice in there!

Well, It has a 351 Cleveland in it, And I figured Id leave it that way, but If i wanted to change it I have a 429 Thunderjet I could put in there too.

I know it's been a while since I posted on this but I figured ya'll would like to be updated on the old girl. So a few updated I have done. I pulled all the interior out and vacuumed the complete inside out, trunk included. Got inside all the cracks and crevices on the side of the interior. Then wire brushed the entire interior to the best of my interior and used a small spray bottle and osphoed everything metal related. Sprayed inside every crack and crevice to try and stop rusting until I can afford to fix it correctly. Note: This is a temporary fix for me. I then waited until it dried, and sprayed it again. To make sure I got everything good. After a lot of near crying and cussing and unthoughtful thoughts about the old girl. Then many many prayers to the Mustang God's. And a new points and condenser set, new Stock distributor, new resistor, new battery, new starter solenoid, new cables going every which way. And a turn of a key, She started again. After letting her run for a while I went to kill it and in my floorboard (Note the luckiness of having my interior out to get it started) Was most of my oil out of my engine. The oil line that went to my Oil pressure guage broke from right behind the guage and I didn't think to check it before I tried to start it, so it leaked most of my oil into the floorboards of my car. So I turned the distributor to kill it. Because the car will not die by just turning the key. (Gotta fix that too, any thoughts or remedies) Cleaned the oil out, the next day replaced the line with the help from a girl I have been on and off with for a couple years now, who is also my best friend, she helped me fix it. With a few smart a$$ remarks from her I finally got it started up again. She actually did some work and got her hands dirty, from working on the car, of course. She even admitted to enjoying working on the old girl. So Score. Got some girl on car action. Pretty good day. Now If i can just keep her around and intrigued with mechanics I'll be alright. ha. Pictures will be coming soon for ya'll to see where the car is going.
