Does anybody know what back space on a 17x9 rim that will allow a 275/40/17 tire to fit inside the rear wheelwell without hitting anything and without rolling the lip on a 68fb, I see a lot of people have used this tire size, i just want it to tuck inside the wheelwell on a moderately low car.
Thanks for your help

I run a 17X9.5" rim with 5.75" of backspace. My lips are rolled, but they would still fit if they were not rolled. The closest place is actually the inner front. Mine fit, but i gently persuaded them with a BFH just to make a bit more clearance.

Hope that helps. There are a bunch of pics of my setup in my gallery.

I used this to measure:

My Rears are 275/40/17 on a 9" rim with a 6" backspace. But that is on a 1970 model. I had to end up using a 3/8" spacer to push them out just a bit. It's tight, but no rubbing.
