So my engine saga continues. One of the local hot rod shops is selling a engine they just build up, and I think they are going to let me have it for $1500. They are not sure what H-balancer is on it, how can I tell?

Here are the specs - what do you think??

Ford GT cast iron heads, hardened seats, new 3 angle valve job
302 Ford GT Roller block, high nickle content block, magnafluxed
Nodular Iron crankshaft
Ford GT Rods, magnafluxed and both ends checked for roundness
TRW main bearings, rod bearings and cam bearings
Main bearings and rod bearings matched and plasti-gauged for same tolerances
600 CFM carbs (smaller 540CFM jets for SBF)
Total Seal double-molly piston rings (precision gapped)
.030 overbore, now 305 cu. in.
Crane Roller Cam
Crane Roller Lifters
Crane Full-Roller Rockers
Cloyes Double Roller Timing Chain Set
Ford GT Hi-Po Rods
TRW Hyper-utectic Pistons, 9.8:1 compression ratio
Melling Oil Pump and Oil Pickup Screen
FRP - Chrome Oil Pan
FRP - Chrome Rocker Arm Covers
Weiand Tunnel Ram Intake Manifold - Polished
2 - 600 CFM Holley Carbs w/progressive linkage
Engine was fully blue-printed
MSD Electronic Distributor & Wires
Autolite #25 Plugs
Ford - Counter-rotating water-pump
New Harmonic Balancer
Includes Flex-Plate

Sounds like a pretty nice engine. Not sure I'd keep the tunnel ram on it.

If it was balanced and blueprinted the balance and flexplate should have been included in that process.

It's a roller block so I would assume it's 50oz balancer and flexplate. They could have zero balanced it also. I'd ask to be sure.

With the information given information, it would be difficult to tell. Like Sluggo said, it's probably a 50 oz. balance with the roller block. But it is possible to put a older crank into the newer style block. You just have to remove a little metal for the one piece seal.

Exactly what I'm doing - check with the shop - if it was balanced, there should be a balance sheet on it.
