The rear view mirror is repro and so is the mount. The screw doesn't even come close to tight enough to hold the mirror in place. Is there supposed to be anything around the metal tab of the mirror or do I just need to squeeze this thing tight and tight it up?

Justin, I had the exact same problem with my SCOTT DRAKE repro mirror bracket. I tried to use a thin feeler gauge folded over the mirror tab with holes punched in it, but I gave up on that and found a slightly better OEM bracket on eBay. It looks to me like the bracket will break before you can get it tightened enough. I think it's just pot metal.

Just another poorly made aftermarket part.
