68 Coupe Daily Driver - Keeping it running and trying to impove it

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Updated 1/6/2011

I think my water leak was the mount for the cap on the aluminum radiator. I installed an original radiator that I had re cored to 3 rows last year. So far, no signs of leaks and cap spray.

I did not like the plastic water bottle.

Mounted a pair of aluminum canisters where the plastic one was, one for the windshield washer and one for the radiator overflow.

I'm liking the canisters. :thu Great idea, I think I'll steal that one.

Hmmm...the drain from the cap for the overflow goes towards the passenger side, but the canister is on the driver's side...

Hey John, does that tank you used for the washer fluid, just have a single outlet tube on the bottom? I'm finding lots of them with the two tubes but would like to find one with a single. Do you remember where you got them? thanks, kip

Rolled my fenders with the Stangfix loaner tool Sunday. It took about 2 hours, start to finish. Now I am ready to do the Shelby drop and lower the ride height.

Found my old prototype seat-track extenders in a box. I fixed them and put them on the passenger set. Now the passenger seat will go back another 2 inches.

Added a mini latch to the air clearer cover. I like the look! It just took 30 min for this project.

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Updated 10/14/2011

Looks pretty neat. I think you need a bigger filter though..... :confu

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Updated 10/14/2011

I've never seen that latch for an air cleaner. Can you show us what it looks like unlatched? I presume it doesn't use the standard air cleaner bolt...

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Updated 10/14/2011

yes, tell us more. You have SO many cool features on your car. Not stuff that slaps you in the face but very very cool!

Here you go Craig and Midlife.

I had to punch a 2/4" hole in the lid

Made some brackets for seat belt bolts and lowered the shoulder mounting point for the inertia Seat Belts. Now the belt goes accross the shoulder and not the neck. :thu

Monday, It goes in for dent repair and paint.

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Updated 11/09/2011

I like what you did with the belts. Any problems with the angle of the belt from the retractor? Where did you locate the retractor?

Frank

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Updated 11/09/2011

The retractor is on the floor behind the seat. No problem with the angle. I will try to take a picture of the retractors location.
