For those that are going, where are you all staying? I think I can make it mid-week. Vinnie and Toni--are you planning on attending? Who else?

Hmmmmm, Hot August Nights in MY world sadly refers to Neil Diamond. SWMBO's family LOVES that guy...literally...to a crazy degree! I live in hell.

Well I'm so sorry Mark. Well look on the bright side at least it's not Zamfir and his pan flute.

I dunno about the rest of you, but it doesn't have to be August to have hot nights. We're lucky to cool down to 72 at night right now. I know the Kalifornians and Arizonians are having very hot nights right now, isn't that right?

And I'm not talking about hot flashes, either...

Hi everyone, I too am booked at the Grand Sierra Resort/GSR. I and another friend with a 41 Ford will arrive on Tuesday and leave Saturday. SacBill will be there from Wed to Sat. He and I are splitting a room. Hope more SF'ers are going.

I will be there from Saturday the 30th until Sunday the 7th. I have a time share in Sparks (2 bed room) near the Nugget and one (studio) downtown. Both are available if anyone needs a room. I am staying at some Hotel. Peppermill, Atlantis, Grand Sierra, Silver Legacy? Who knows. Whatever my wife gets for a comp.

I'm going to be there and I'm staying at Sands, whatever that is. I think it's close to the rest but it's cheaper because... you know, I'm a student.

My parents will also be there, though I'm not sure where they're staying.

The 26-hour drive up from Texas with Jane should be interesting... this trip will triple the number of miles I've got on this engine rebuild so far!

Kelly:

Looking forward to seeing you and Jane again. Nice that your folks are coming out too.

Regards, Jeff

Marco:

When you wife decides to tell you where you are staying, let us know.

Regards, Jeff

First Atlantis, then Peppermill, the Silver Legacy.

On Tuesday I usually park at GRS all morning. Wednesday I usually park at Atlantis and Peppermill. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday I usually park on Virginia all day with a couple of friends. Here is a picture of us last year.

The Sands is not bad. It is only 1 block from Virginia Street.

Interesting 26 hr drive? Why is your steering wheel still pointed to the right? :) I enjoyed your VMF thread.

I'm real good at fixing other peoples' cars and breaking my own...

My steering wheel is now on straight! I just didn't want to post about it cus I figured more people would get their panties in a twist over nothing. Sure has been an interesting few weeks over there in the "other" place

For the past few years, my friends have stayed at the Sands. Nothing fancy, and it is a good alternative to the more expensive casino hotels. Good location and the parking lot has 24 hour security. Jeff, SacBill, and I will be at the Grand High Sierra on the east side. We will have to pick a day and time to meet up somewhere. Lots of options.

John:
Given the usual mid day temperatures through the Valley in August, it makes sense to get through Sacto before things heat up. Does connecting somewhere in the valley North of Tracy (Bill suggested Sierra College right off of 80) and caravan up the rest of the way? If so, what arrival time (at the meeting point) makes sense?

Anyone else from Mo-Town coming?

Regards, Jeff

Hi Jeff, since I am not meeting Bill this year I and another friend here (41 Ford) in Modesto were going to take a more scenic route to Reno this time: Hwy 88 over Kirkwood to Hwy 89 over Mr. Rose and into south Reno. On the return drive we will take Hwy 80 back. Do you want to hook up with us and take that route? We can find a place to rendezvous in Jackson?
