Mach1Mark's '65 coupe restomod

Today I test fit the new rims. As I expected they are close but a no-go. Will reconsider the other offsets, return and re-order. Also pre-loaded the rear suspension with heavy rocks (to simulate a full load of fuel) and set the traction bars. Also measured the drive train to order a new drive shaft.

Did you pull the trigger on the Denny's driveshaft? Or go elsewhere?

I looked at Dennys and they are impressive, however I went with Driveshaft Specialists in San Antonio. Ryan (Monkeystash) used them and recommended them highly. And their price and delivery schedule was significantly better.

Yesterday I straightened the new 3/8" fuel line I bought last week. Actually very easy task. Today I began the installation of the fuel line. Got it onto the chassis and attached three of the fasteners on the front half of the car. Also attached more new plastic wiring clips in the engine compartment. Note to self: next time install them BEFORE the engine !!

My spiffy aluminum drive shaft will arrive today from Driveshaft Specialist of Texas. I called my hometown Discount Tire shop yesterday and ordered the Kumho V720 (215/45/17) for the fronts and Nitto NT05 (235/45/17) for the rear. They will be in the shop by the weekend and I will take the rims I have to get them mounted.

Today had two tires mounted (because I only have one front and one rear rim until next Tuesday), Kumho on the front and Nitto on the rear. I am really pleased with the look of the rims and tires. Will need to adjust the front coil overs to bring the front down. The rear will settle in with time and miles. Also installed the new aluminum driveshaft. And began to route the power steering braided lines.

Yesterday I took the third and fourth rim of the set to have the new tires mounted. Today I installed them on the drivers side. Looks sharp. Continued working on routing the power steering lines.

Yesterday I continued work on the power steering hoses by trimming each hose end to final length and attaching the new AN fittings. They came from Unisteer with straight fittings and they would not allow for the tight bends needed to thread the hoses around the header and motor mount. The high pressure hose needed about 10" removed and a 45 bend and a 90 bend added the ends. The low pressure hose may be the correct length but I added a 45 bend on one end. Im going to encase the hoses in a sleeve of heat protective material.

And today. Fit, cut and shrink wrapped the heat protection sleeves.

What kind of heat wrap are you using?

Sent from my XT1058 using Tapatalk
Heatshield Products. Ive never used a heat wrap but saw an article somewhere and thought it sounded like a good idea. I am also going to wrap the H-pipe to protect the metal fuel line that runs along the inside of the frame rail from excess heat. Also going to install a heat blanket in the mini starter to protect it too. Summit Racing/Jegs/eBay all have Heatshield Products as well as the company website.

Small projects completed: install starter cable, battery ground cable and positive battery cable, install turnbuckle on driver side of engine behind the p/s pump down to the sway bar bracket (to prevent motor from lifting off of the motor mount), find and install short oil filter to clear turnbuckle, find combination of fittings to install oil pressure sending unit (oil filter, turnbuckle and p/s hoses create interferences).
