Hey there,
I hope you all enjoyed the holidays. i spent most of the evening sorting out the boxes of junk/old parts that i got with my car. I made the mistake of buying an already stripped down car so now i have a few parts that i need to identify.

And last, can anyone tell me if these seat pans are defo for a 67-68. They came as part of my build and i want to lower them for Pro Car Rally seats. I have Pro Car seat brackets for 67-68s that dont fit so good..... Should 67-68 seat pans have that strut?

The first person to get all the answers correct gets 10 pints of Guinness which have to be collected here in Ireland and drunk in succession..... :eek:ccasion14:

Thanks,

Johnny

#4: rear tie down on frame rail
#5: upside down battery tray
#6: shock tower cap
#7: support for clutch z-bar that goes on upper side of driver's side frame rail
#8: side bumper support that goes towards front of bumper (I'm too lazy to determine the side)

So...what do I win? An Irish Creme?

Johnny,

Are the old seat risers removed already? If so, remove the brace from the new seat riser, trim the new seat riser down so that the riser will install considerably lower than stock... 1.5 - 2 inches should do it.... and then modify and reinstall the brace.

While the seat risers are removed, aside form lowering the risers, you may want to consider installing them an inch or so rearward of their stock location. This will give you more legroom.

Hey Dave,
Hope you are well. has Joe been out in the E-car yet?
I spent the first half of my day grinding out the pigeon shit welds that Steve did and the second half redoing all of them. Thankfully the floor pan and cowl are in good shape now. i have now decided to replace the radiator support as it looks to have had a knock at some stage. When i measure from the cowl on both sides there is a 1/2" difference due to a bad repair job.

As my car got a full new floor pan i have not yet installed the new risers. The back of the seat riser only has 2 1/4" of vertical height so am i only leaving 1/4" at the back of the riser? Just want to be certain before i start cutting them up!!!!

I will also move them a few inches back while i am at it...

Thanks,

Johnny

Not to jack your thread Johnny, but looks like I'll be in your neck of the woods the end of next June. Perhaps we can find time to meet up and I'll collect that drink for whoever wins.

Brian,
Sounds like a great plan, let me know if you need any help this end with places to go, transport, etc etc. Is it just a holiday? First time to Ireland?

Johnny

Brain,

While you're over there, have Johnny show you my castle. Well, it's not mine yet, but someday!

Johnny,

That's why I said 1.5 - 2 inches.... removing 2 inches of height form the seat risers doesn't leave much left on that rear edge. Removing 1.5" may be better. Also, don't move the seat riser too far rearward.... 1 -2 inches should be plenty!

Have a Happy New Year!

Dave

Johnny,

Yep, just a holiday and my first time there. The wife and I, along with another couple, are flying over June 19th and staying 10 days. We're spending a couple days in different areas, but trying to see as much of the island as possible. I think the itinerary is Northern Ireland for the first couple days, taking the train south to Dublin (staying there a couple days), then driving down to Shannon and there for a couple days. Maybe while we're in Dublin, we can meet up for a drink. If you have any pointers on stuff to put on our to do list, fire away.

Jeez Johnny, has the well drilling business slowed down forcing you to moonlight as a tour guide? That's a pretty well laid out response with links and everything!

Hey, leave the man alone. He's saving me valuable research time! :icon_thumleft: Seriously, thanks Johnny. The wife is here looking over my shoulder and says thanks as well. We'll definitely set up a meet closer to time.
