I recently picked up a rim blow steering wheel for my 70 Mach. While I'm not even going to attempt to restore the wheel itself, I figured I could tackle the clean up of the steering wheel pad. On one side of the pad the original ginger color is exposed. Apparently, at one point, the pad was dyed black. They did a good job on the rest of it as you couldn't even tell until I make a closer inspection of the pad. I don't want to just re-paint over the area without stripping all of the old dye/paint (no idea what they used) off so what have you guys successfully used to strip your steering wheel pads? Any suggestions for a dye that will hold up?
