Sealing welds

66Ford

I'm going to start welding in some panels on my 66 and I am planing on using a flanging tool. Is the best method to use weld able primer to keep rust from starting in the seam? I am a beginner.... Just wanting to start out the right way! Any help would be great! Thanks

If I was putting together flanged panels I would glue them. Seals the joint and there's no chance of warping due to heat. If your replacing panels that normally over lap then spot welding is OK. You will need to cover both parts with weld through paint before putting them together. The main idea is not to have any exposed bare metal when the repair is finished. Here's a vid on using panel bonding adhesive. If you run into a wall throw up a post on here.
