tarafied1's 65 Coupe

I guess everyone thinks I'm a nut with all my projects, :roll no comments needed.
I got the drag car thread, the Falcon and I've been playing with this coupe so I'll start a thread on it.
I originally found out about this car and the guy was going to use the trans and rear axle so I offered to buy it for parts.
He decided he didn't want the trans or rear because its a toploader 3 speed and 8" and he thought it was a 4 speed and 9".
Anyway, I bought. My buddy wanted to get measurements for his 65 FB so it went to his place for a while but now it's in my garage and I'm going to fix the front frame/shock towers. After that, I'm not sure, Maybe it will be the Drag Car because Joey wants the Falcon. Anyway, here are some pics

Brought it home with some junkyard tires on it, the old bias ply tires were completely shot

I've got a real nice 65 dash cluster... You may need it at some point.

I have a C4 that came out of my 65 as well.

You are nuts. I can't keep up with all your projects.
Must be a Craig thing. You two never seem to be able to find enough projects.

Thanks Mel, I may need the cluster... this car is a 3 speed. I'd like to put a T5 in it.

yeah, I just like to tinker. I wish we were all closer so we could have get together meetings to wok on each others stuff

No problem, you have lots of work to do before you get to the cluster. I have lots of 65 stuff that came off my car.

Um, I would spend the extra money for the TKO. I have the T5 in my 67 and the TKO in the 65 and man what a difference!

I don't know too many people that actually have one of each to drive and feel the real difference. many people made their choice and then love it because of the research they did, I did the same thing the first time with the T5 and then was talked into the TKO and just can't believe the difference!

Yeah that would be fun.

Thanks Mel, I already have a T5, but I believe you about the TKO. I will save up to put the TKO behind the 429 in the 67!

Yeah, I think it would be cool. I have never belonged to a "car club" but I read about one where the guys would meet each weekend or month or whatever but it would be at one mombers house and they would all work on the car. Then maybe the next meeting at another or maybe even the same one but that was how they all got their cars done.

That would be awesome. Too bad I'm in the sticks over here.

I do want to get back over and work on yours again... that was fun. Plus, if I wait too long, the kids will forget who I am!

Your welcome anytime. We need to make it out your way to help work on one of your many projects.

any updated pics of yours?

I was getting ready to head to the garage to take some actually. Going to play with that fender issue I told you about.

I woke up to a flat on the Taurus. Took the tire off. Quite a big chunk of something stuck in their. Car has almost 40,000 miles so probably need all four.

I thought about using the 68 front clip I have and use the 67/68 towers but the more I thought about it it just seemed a hokey way to fix this car. I will clean up the frame rails and use them however.
index.php

I think I can do my impersonation of Brian at GPR and cut and section the front of the 68 rails onto the 65 and then fit that tower in with out cutting out the bracket. I hope!

I don't think it would have been hokey at all to use those 68 towers. I think you'd like it better because of the added room.

Bill

Well its still an option i guess. Just that i would need special wheels.

I did work a little on cleaning up the area before Joey came over to look at the Falcon.

Why would you need special wheels then? I'm not following.

Nice pics of the two red stangs.

while the frame rails are the same width, the 67/68 track width got wider. They rounded the body and widened the rear axle along with the shock towers to get room for a big block. So with the 68 towers the front track width would be wider because I would have to use the 68 suspension. So the wheels won't stick out too far I'd need more offset like modern wheels.
