tarafied1's 65 Coupe

I took this week off but my helper has been a bigger distraction!

She is getting big!
They usually think they are helping. Looks like a good way to spend a vacation though.

it is the best! they moved back to Chicago about a year ago so we don't see her nearly as much. SWMBO has the week off from school (fall break), so I took off to and went up and got her. Week is going by TOO fast!

Craig your reason for not working on the car sure was a good one! BTW, I haven't seen an inch worm in decades!!
Inch worm, inch worm I love you! LOL

thanks, I am enjoying the distraction! She is 2 1/2 so she keeps me busy.
My wife likes the old toys so we have a collection of stuff from the 70's. The inch worm is a repop though!

not much progress to report but I moved the car back so I could get the 99GT in the garage. Changing clutch. Today a house by us had a "tag" sale. Never heard of a tag sale but it's like a garage sale. Anyway, several people stopped to ask if the 65 was for sale!

also some of you may know I have a friend with a 65 fastback. I have tried to buy it in the past. Recently he retired, sold his house and moved to Tennessee. He asked me if I could help him move some stuff and when I arrived he made a deal I couldn't refuse. The 65 fastback with thousands in new dynacorn sheetmetal and other parts, a rod & custom MII front suspension kit and a 65 coupe for $6500. So I did it without telling the wife! I waited almost a week before telling her but to my surprise I am still allowed in the house.

the white coupe is really solid. It's from Louisiana. It was a 6 cyl. 3 spd. No motor. All the trim and stuff not on the car is packed inside. Has a clear title. The interior is mostly removed so you can see the floorboards. Very solid car. My buddy bought with the intention to cut the roof off of the fastback and put it on this car. We basically assembled the fastback from repop parts so he was not confident we have it all assembled correctly. We didn't have a jig and the FB was pretty well trashed...

the FB turned out to be three different cars. The front clip was a coupe VIN. You could see where it had been sectioned. The rear from the center of the wheel well back was from another car, also poorly sectioned.
We basicly cut everything out and started over

I think I will sell off the white 65... my 16 year old son wants the blue 65 for his car. He likes the patina and the 68 shocktower set-up. So the FB will become my drag car.

Awesome that you finally ended up with the FB. I showed Jordan the pics of the 65 coupe, he likes it.

Yeah, I have wanted the FB ever since he started the Eleanor coupe to FB project. I had owned both of the cars he used to make that and regretted getting rid of them. He ultimately wanted the Eleanor but I think the 65 held some sentimental value since he got after his wife died and it was kind of a therapy to work on it. One other time we agreed on a deal but I could tell he really didn't want to let it go then so I let him off the hook. This time he is in a better place in his life. I think he is really okay with letting it go this time
