Too much blue! Interior colour change?

I have just picked up a '67 convertible, knowing full well that the worn interior needs to be fixed up.

The exterior is Acapulco Blue (ish). The two-tone blue interior is just too much blue for me.

Blue Mustang owners: What colour is your interior? What do you recommend?

I've been looking at the black TMI seats with Blue inserts. Has anyone tried those?

Haven't tried them but that sounds like a good combination.

Depends on what you want. Classic or restomod appearance.
Less is more. Thats what I am thinking.
Classic , stay with the combination.
Restomod: Just black TMI seat with the better foam and upholstery.
I would go for black stitches but you also have to alter the interior panels and dash to black.
On the outside just the white stripes nearby the rocker panel.

It's very easy to go too far and create a trashy look. Black is your first defense against that as it goes with all. As Bruno indicates, once you start you kind of have to go all the way which could include a respray of the interior doors and dash. If you lose the stock color seat coverings that light blue color now could become out of place.

Another suggestion is to speak with a local upholstery guy or two. You might be surprised at what they would quote you to do something custom. For about the same money as something a thousand other guys have yours could be unique.

Congrats on the new ride, by the way!

A white upholstery with blue carpets and dash would look very sharp.

    Thanks Guys.

I agree with less is more. I want to be "Classic" and less "Restomod". A trashy look is way out. The more I think about it, I want to stay clean and classic.

Spraying the dash and door metal will be a pain, but it needs to be done regardless. The baby-blue door paint is badly faded.

I have seen one Dark Blue '67 with the white "Parchment" interior. It looked great. I wonder how long it would take my three young boys to stain it...

The easy choices are: Orignal two-tone Blue, Black, Saddle or Parchment.

FYI: The Top is newish and black, so a white or tan top is out.

Personnally I don't like the combination of blue with tan or saddle.FWIW.

I don't get the brown and blue thing either. The wife tells me it goes but I just don't see it either.

My 70 is Acapulco blue with the white interior.

I love the color combination now, but when I first bought it I wanted black. I get a ton of compliments on the blue and white.

  10. I think tan interior goes nice with blue, red, or green exterior.
