That is Waterford Hills Raceway up the road from me. Tiny little place, not very high speeds, probably 93-95mph max. What I really like about it is I can run it mostly in 3rd gear, great for eliminating some driver error shifting. It may be small but it also has pretty much every type of turn you can imagine, great for testing suspension stuff. 1G is 1G regardless of speed right.

July 2018, Fire on the Prairie at Heartland Motorsports Park with NASA Central Region. Man was it frig'n hot!! 100-102 with little breeze and full sun. The track surface was never below 125*

We started with 8 cars. Had 3-car, no-shows including mine. The last race had just 4 brave souls. We had one heat exhaustion, one broken motor, one broken transmission, one broken rear gear that turned the driveshaft into a pretzel and 2 broken starters.
They did run one race in the rain! Fun was had by all. If the in-car video gets uploaded, it'll be quite entertaining!

We also ran the 6 hr Enduro with the Champcar. We were at hour 5 when the car came in for a driver change. As it came down pit road, something in the valvetrain broke! Thank goodness it didn't do it at full song and destroy the engine completely. We still finished 3rd in class!

 

It was. It was really hot, but we all had so much fun, it should almost be illegal.

He has a four point bar. While allowed, we’re prodding him to up the cage. Some people have to be dragged to safety.

I agree, but he didn’t seem to beating on it or “racing” on the ragged edge. He may be of the opinion that until he does...he’s safe “enough”.
