1966 F100 Build

I figured since most of us like fords Id also share my F100 build. 1966 LWB I6 240/3 speed (I think). Power steering, front disk brakes, and quite a bit of work was done to it.

Runs good when it warm, runs ok when cold out, drives good and pretty good body.

The bad, rotted cab mounts and floor. Dented rusted bed, and a couple little things

Test fitting seats with Ranger Brackets. Decided to use 01 Mustang seats with 67 brackets because they are lower.

That's cool Jeff! One of my "someday" projects is a '65 or '66 SWB Custom Cab. I just love the body lines on them!

Thanks! I had a 68 Chevy LWB Stepside and it was a bit of a big with lipstick on it. I actually went and picked up one of these with my buddy for his father/daughter build and just fell in love with the lines myself. So I sold the 68 for a bit of a profit and drove 19 hours round trip in one day to pick this girl up in Springfield Missouri

Cool! Ya know a Crown Vic front end will go right underneath it if you want to upgrade the whole front suspension on the cheap?! There's very little mods to do it and the track width is nearly spot on. I've looked into pricing and you can can generally pick up a whole front for several hundred.

ahh yes a lot of folks are doing that. Lowers the front about 4" or so and gives it the mustang bolt pattern as well. My front end has been rebuilt so not big on my to do list. Maybe one day. They are selling for 350 - 500 usually depending on where you go

got the backing plates riveted in and installed my 3 point seat belts. Still needs work, the connectors are too long and need to moved and i need to make another mounting point for the lap belt section. It fits pretty well otherwise though

I'd be working on getting that shiny new gas tank out of the cab if I were in your shoes. Flambe is not the way to go!

LOL! Yeah, ive been thinking about relocating a mustang tank to the rear but just not sure if i want to go that route

Behind the rear axle isn't a good idea either.
I would place it between the front and rear axle , if possible of course.
JMHO.

Thats just what the others do from the f100 forums. I havent looked into it all yet but its just an option. Thanks for your thoughts

Had a busy Saturday and didn't get to work on anything and since it was wet Sunday i decided to start working on my custom dash insert. I plan on doing a 5 gauge setup for now at least. Once i get the insert setup right ill then re-evaluate the gauge cut outs

Got the cluster all wired up. Tested out the Volt Meter, Fuel Gauge, and general lighting. One of the LEDs for turn signal went out. So i ordered more. Just need to figure out how i am gonna connect it into the stock wiring, replace senders, and get it all going

Pictures can be deceiving but that looks like a good candidate for a rub down with steel wool followed by a clear coat to preserve the patina.

Certainly not for everyone. I never thought too much of it until I saw a couple vehicles that I really liked. It has to be the right vehicle and the right balance of color, rust etc.

Ive seen some nicely done patina jobs, alot of guys cut and buff them and it looks pretty awesome
