1967 Barracuda

guruatbol

Always on vacation!
Well, I really can't afford to be buying anything right now with the wedding coming up and all, but I have an oppertunity to buy a 1967 cuda. It is all there, but has some rust. Looks like just body panels and the new panels are available. I've seen guys here rescue Mustangs with more rust in them that this car. Anyway, it is a good deal.

Kinda a buy now pay later thing. The guy has to get it out and has nowhere to put it. I am right across the street and it will be an easy move and pay later....He has the new parts for the interior. The brakes need new lines and who knows what else. I will probably try to pay him less than $1000 for it. It is deffenately a tear it down and media blast and rotisseri fix and take many years to complete.

I also know I will be upside down on this one too. It seems I am up side down on every project. Anyway it is a fastback which is pretty cool.

My question is, does anyone know of a cool forum to join so I can do some research?

Maybe if I can buy right, I can get some :nick and pull a Nick and make some cash to finish the 65. Hehehehe I woldn't do that....

Mel, that would be sweet! I love the 67-69 body style, even though it is less than popular. Hurry up with the pics, geeeez.

Mel,

Quit flappin your lips and push that sumbeyotch across the street. And start taking some friggin pics.

Is this the one that has the center console that goes all the way back dividing the rear seat? If so, I love that car. For the price, I could find room for it. - OMG!!

I'm a member over there although I haven't posted in a few years. My brother owned a '70 Challenger 440 R/T car that I helped him get together before he sold it. He still owns a '73 'Cuda that he wants me to do a groundup rebuild on. The guys on that forum are similar to the people around here and would be a lot of help.

The only advice I can give is that model year/body style is considered the "red-headed step child" of the model line. Personally, I like them, but I'm not in the majority. Unless there was a sentimental attachment, which there isn't..... you're going to be upside down REAL quick.

Hi Mel, I agree with David S. Unless you have a complete car, it will be expensive. A friend of mine just finished 68 restomod coupe that is awesome.

He constantly complained about the rarity of parts and the high prices. He had to pay some ridiculous amount for small parts like taillights and door handles. There's some old coot in Sonora CA that has an early Barracuda salvage yard, but charges a premium for stuff.

I think we all get a little spoiled by the abundance of cheap repro parts for our Stangs.
Mopars are hard to find parts for and prices cane be through the roof sometimes.

It is a complete car. I have to peek inside, I know it has a console, but not sure if it splits the back seat.

I am hoping to make it part of my collection for about $500. Then I would have to do a complete seek the rust deal!

I also agree with Dave, I could end up being upside down real fast. I would want to do a restomod anyway. I would probably want to put a big horse power mill in it. I wonder how hard it would be to put a TKO in it???

I do like the fastback style, but as far as being in love with the body style...Not. I did notice it seems to be a one year wonder though. Kind of like the 67 Mustang I have. It is an early car and has a good mix of the 65/6 style stuff and the 68 stuff.

It looks as though the 66 cuda is one style and the 67 is another and the 68 is different still.

I am a fan of mopar as well. I looked at a dart before I bought my stang and was turned away due to the lack of parts. I will buy one later though now that I have a lot more experience. I would like to see some pics as well.

Same color, but this one is much more complete. the interior is intact and it is in one piece.
