1983 5.0 Mustang GLX T-top coupe

Horseplay

I Don't Care. Do you?
I had an 83 once. Black on black 5 speed GT. Loved that car. Should have never sold it.

One important note is that 83 was the last year the mustang had a carburetor. FI started in 84. What are you looking to learn about your ride?

And WELCOME to the FIX!

The 1985 mustang came with a carburetor if you got the manual trans. Automatics received the fi

All Fords went FI in 1986. I don't ever recall seeing a T-top notchback (coupe), they must be fairly rare. T-tops were common in the hatchback version. That car is also wearing 1991 Mustang wheels.

It was common to replace the wheels if it originally came with the unique metric wheels. My brother had an '83 or '84 GT convertible and when he needed new tires there was about a 6 month waiting list.

1986 was the last carbureted Mustang. The 2.3's still had carb's. (I own one of them.)1985 was the last year the V8 was carbureted. (I own one of those too.)

A very interesting car. I've never personally seen a coupe with T-tops. T-tops don't seem to add much value to these cars but it definitely makes it interesting to Fox body fans.

I had an 82 EXP with the metric wheels. Tires were stupid expensive.

Very common to change them out.

Ford's advertising at the time was something about great ideas. This type of crap didn't help their image at all.

Sorry bubba, 85 was the last carb year. My 84GT sure didn't have FI, nor did my buddy's 85. I sure do miss that 84.

OP, what do you want to know?

Something I didn't know, that EXP's also got the option of TRX wheels. As I recall if you had TRX's, your tire option were Michelins or else. Everyone I recall back in the day just bought different wheels when the TRX tires wore out.

Doesn't matter in this case. This particular coupe is wearing what appears to be 1991-3 "Pony" 16" wheels. The same wheels we are currently running on our (carbureted from the factory) 1986.
