2001 Cobra No Start

It has nothing to do with pulling them out when they are hot. The engines actually just spit the spark plugs out during spirited driving. We had two of the eight that launched on their own. I would highly encourage looking at the Timesert or equivalent product while the engine is out of the car. Doing it in the car was a monumental undertaking. I was able to rent the toolset locally and just purchase the inserts. I used this --> chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.locknstitch.com/pdf/Ford%20Triton%20Instructions.pdf

Now that the heads have been done and are at home, I can still do this?

Yes, I did it with the heads in the car. If you have the heads outside the car it will be simple. I had to worry about dropping aluminum bits inside the cylinders during the drilling and insert procedure.

Do you have the install kit?

I was able to rent it from a shop in town. I only had to purchase the consumables such as the thread inserts and a small drill bit or two I damaged. If you look around, maybe you will find someone near you. If not try https://www.locknstitch.com/ maybe they ship the rental tool?

Anyone have a set of 24lb injectors laying around? A few of mine look pretty rough when I pulled them to clean and paint the lower intake. Looking at Bosch OEM remanned ones as I don’t want to spend a fortune because I’ll probably be upgrading them in the near future.

Back from the dead… I bought some 03 heads and 96 cams. Machine shop went through the heads and cleaned up the cams. Started reassembling with new timing set.

Timing it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Pulled the rockers and set timing set dot to dot after bringing cylinder 1 up to top.

Anyways, where I’m at today. Got a new clutch setup installed and mated the transmission. Got it bolted in the subframe. Waiting on valve cover gaskets so that I can get it back in the car.

Too much black for a silver car? The coil covers are body color. Does the upper intake need to be silver for accent? Still waiting on a few Cobra decals to come in.

I always feel less is more, in most cases. Plenty of opportunity to add some color contrast with hoses and wiring, etc. One other option is to replace some fasteners with stainless to "pop" against the black parts.

My thought exactly. Thought I’d use stainless fasteners for a little pop and call it. More I look at it the happier I am with it.

Just be sure to use anti-seize on the the threads. Never know when the ole different metals thing will rise up and bite ya
