well so far this is what I have come up with. I called in a few favors and have some really good friends.
The labor for me is free because I am doing this myself. But it could be kinda expensive in the long run if you don't do this work yourself.

PARTS:
I have a spare set of knuckles for my RCD lift, but you don't need new ones.

Front hubs are different from the 2wd to the 4wd. These cost me $15 for shipping. Tundra or Tacoma hubs will work.
You'll need front bearings/seals/snap rings/spacers/abs rings. My RCD knuckles had them already so no cost there. I don't have ABS so I ordered the spacers for trucks without. You can re-use your old abs reluctors/spacers, but I didn't want to take apart my knuckles. I can use them as spares in an emergency.
Front axles can be bought rebuilt for $75 each. Have to be Tundra, tacomas ones are to short.
I got a complete front diff out of an 03 tundra for $250. The Tacoma front diff will work.
I am have 4.88 gears for the front to match my rear gears.
I bought the 4wd switch assembly (part around the radio) = $100
The 4x4 ecu was free when I bought the front diff.
The interior of the truck was PLUG AND PLAY, everything inside the truck works...........
BUT all the wires end at connector IE1 behind the glove box and I had to run all the wiring outside the truck to the ADD diff and the transfer-case actuator and limit switches.
I am going to use the electric transfer-case. This was also FREE to me. I just had to wire it.
If you use the manual T-case(gear driven), there is a company who makes an adapter for it to bolt to your 2wd trans.
I am in the process of saving money for a 4wd trans.
The rear drive shaft was $100 from the wrecking yard.
The front drive shaft I had out of friend of mines truck(free). he had a custom one made.
The rear cross member for the transfer case was free, the wrecking yard threw it in, but it is different than the 2wd and has to be changed.
The 2wd engine ecu should work, but I had a 4wd ecu laying around that someone ordered by mistake and Toyota wouldn't take it back because it had been on the shelf for a long time. I don't think this has to be changed, but i did anyways.

Ill post more when I get more stuff done, or if anyone has questions.
This is all bolt in and mostly plug and play. The only thing I have to cut is the front cross member and that is only because of my lift, non lifted trucks have to cut nothing, it's all bolt on.
If you can find a wrecked truck with the parts, it will cut down alot of the cost.

interesting, thanks for sharing the pics and details. It looks like a cool project. What inspired the build?

I always wondered how much work that would be. Is the ABS ecu going to work? I know the Sequoias have to be initialized as 2 or 4 wheel drive. Once it's done there's no turning back.

I wonder if 07 and up are more plug and play.

We are starting to travel a bit more and it's always nice to have 4wd, besides someone told me it couldn't be done, and aquired most of the parts over the years and it's alot cheaper than buying a new one.

NO ABS, but it would work if you got a trans from a tundra and added a couple if wires.
I was going to use a trans from a sequoia, but I would have needed the engine ecu/translate ecu and abs ecu = I dont have abs= just to much thinking to make it work.
The Tundra trans will be plug and play almost.
I had to run wires from the front diff actuator to a connector behind the glove box, and Ill have to do the same for the trnasfer case actuator, but everything else bolts right in. I consider this all plug and play, not much work at all. Ill keep you all posted.
I am selling parts to get enough $$ for the trans. I have everything else.

I found a 2003 4wd transmission with 32k miles and it has been installed. The only modification I had to do was to lengthen the speed sensor wires, the rest was plugb and play/
The transfercase has been installed and I built the harness to make it work.

My 2002 2wd Tundra is now officially a 4wd...... :yah
