I throw down the glove!

West coast StangFix CA-MITM versus East coast StangFix MBB!

Craig and I will be attending next year's StangFix MBB....so we challenge you dufusses...(or is that duffi?)..to respond and attend MITM.

Our MITM agenda:
Stay on the coast with rooms overlooking the Pacific Ocean
Friday night dinner in Pismo Beach..and drinking
Saturday cruise through the rolling hills visiting wineries
Saturday night dinner at AJ Spurs (steak and whisky)....and more drinking
Sunday drive home

Make a full week's vacation of it and see some of California too.

So I challenge anyone here on StangFix to not only come to MITM but also MBB in 2010. :pep

Now I just have to ask the wife and see if I can go..... :dumas :doh

Is it traditionally held on the same weekend every year? If so, which weekend? We have some friends in Monterrey that are requesting our presence and we might be able to kill two birds with one stone.... figuratively speaking of course.

:conf This may actually work. Gonna depend on a lot of different variables. Definately have to know dates as I already have something big planned April/May that will definately put me out of traveling for a couple months.

MITM is usually a late summer early fall weekend...like MBB.
We had it Sep 11-13 this year. We pick this time because the tourists/kids are back in school and that frees up the place (Pismo Beach) a little.

Of course we can all discuss a weekend. But the way it usually works is I pick a weekend and everybody plans toward it. Otherwise we start getting too many people chiming in saying I can so this date but not that....

I'm guessing a 1 month space between MITM and MBB would be a great time at both. :tigg :tigg

Here's where we stay...teh women lokie the view..

Definately fly into San Jose and rent a Mustang and drive to Monterey....along the way you can visit with a bunch of us...and then cruise with us south to Pismo.

As soon as you nail down a weekend, let me know. The more advance notice that we have, the better!

Pismo Beach looks nice. I've been to most of the CA beaches, but it's been years. One thing's for certain, the water of the Pacific is usually 30 degrees colder than the Atlantic around here. Normal summertime water temps average mid-80 degrees. Here, you can actually jump in without shrinkage!

Here's a video of the Compass Cove Resort. I've stayed in many of the MB hotels, but recently came across this one. A lot of the MBB participants are staying here this year and we'll post a reveiw of the hotel after the event. I've got a 3 room/2BR Suite w/full kitchen/LR and seperate master and 2nd BR reserved for the weekend and it only cost $154 after tax for the Fri/Sat weekend.

I've always wanted to attend MITM, mostly because when you spell it out and scan the words quickly, it reads like "Meet Midlife"!

Maybe next year. Can I recommend Big Sur, or perhaps the Hearst Castle so that the Mustanging can go down Hwy 1, a beautiful and curvy scenic road?

Well be prepared for a price shock for a ocean motel out here (KonTiki Inn $184/nt).

We'll certainly pick a date with plenty of warning....say early next year.

Well Randy...a cruise along Hwy 1 all the way up (or down) the coast from Monterey to Pismo would take almost all day and believe me with these old cars its not that great. Besides the wives here would balk big time.

The Sat cruise would be to some nice wineries. Then on Sunday for those heading north on their little vacation you can cruise with us north on 101 (we stay on 101) to Hwy 46 and then head west to Hwy 1. Head north a short way and you will be at Hearst Castle...keep going north along the scenic Hwy to Carmel/Monterey.

We can plan all this out more later but with these plans we also take into account the wive's druthers.

Maybe this will finally get Beach Pony out here. Mike, we might want to bump MITM earlier by a couple weeks+ just so it is not so close to MBBIII. But let's wait to see how much interest is developed.

Then again, how about a MITM-USA? Maybe we can all drive our Mustangs to Ges Moines....... :wtf

Driving out of state isn't in the cards.
I spent a fortune last year driving to Park City. I loved the drive (with other Mustangs) but my wife tolerated it. At 10mpg a substantial trip of a few thousand miles would really hurt. :cry

To make the MBB worthwhile I might plan for a week trip and see some of the east coast.

So wouldn't it make sense, if you're having an even labeled as 'Meet in the MIDDLE' - wouldn't you actually strive to meet in the MIDDLE? :rulez

I'll drive it right up the middle if you're not careful...... :3sum

Seriously, We're keeping it as originally planned. Jeremy, you better start saving up for gas $$$
