Being new to this part of Texas we asked around for some ideas of places to see fireworks and almost everyone said go to Washington on the Brazos. We got there around 8ish. Driving down the street I saw a beautiful light blue classic mustang coupe. Maybe someone from here? I tried to get a picture of it but no luck. We walked around and waitied for the fireworks to start. I was expecting something, well... good? :sad

Everyone kept saying this place had a great firework display. I guess their idea of great is different than mine. To me, a great firework display lasts a good 15 minutes or more and the grand finale is awesome with constant fireworks. Like the fireworks at Jack Murphey (Qualcom) stadium in San Diego I saw 20+ years ago. That was a great show. I swear it lasted a good 30 minutes and the finale was mind blowing. Heck even sitting on fiesta island watching fireworks from Sea World was better than what I saw here.

These fireworks were crappy and the grand finale was like 5-7 fireworks at once. That was it. Total waste of gas driving out there. I guess it would have been more tolerable if we had taken the mustang, but since it looked like rain, I didn't want to chance it. Atleast if I had taken the mustang I could have looked cool sitting in it while watching boring fireworks. :lol
 
Most years we have quite a few communities around here that put on the long shows like you describe. This year almost all of them were cancelled thanks to lack of funds. It was probably the quietest 4th I've ever experienced in my 60+ years.
 
We went to a friends place on Lake Granbury. Their house is up on the hill 128 STEEP steps to the boat dock from their deck. Their deck, all 2000+ sq feet of it looks out over the lake and the city. We got to see probably 7 or 8 cities firework shows, truly incredible. We watched fireworks from around 8PM until we left around 1130, and they were still going off as we were driving out of town.

Going down the stairs is the easy part, its the going back up for more beer that is the hard part. There is a boat ramp almost across from the dock, I keep telling them we should stock the boat dock from the boat ramp and just go up the stairs at the end of the day. At least there are a couple landings on the stairs to rest...

Okay.... after seeing what's down there I'd probably go down the stairs of my own free will and suffer the consequences (the climb back up) later. It looks to be a cool place to hang out.

Maybe you could tie a cold one to the end of a stick and hold it in front of Dave while he went down the stairs.

Our local display in The Woodlands was pretty good this year. They advertised 23 minutes and that was pretty close but it seemed a couple minutes shorter.

I hauled a bunch of us in the Explorer to the roof of my office building's parking garage. Great view from there.

I took a couple of pictures but with a cell phone they didn't turn out worth a hoot.
