5.8 quake in central Virginia ?

Hope no injuries or serious property damage occurred.

Bring'em on. I enjoy earthquakes, rough surf and terrible weather for some reason. Out here we usually sleep through the 3 pointers.

Went from as far as Canada (above Detroit) down to Charlotte (NC/SC) line. Felt so far due to mountain (rock) ranges. Pretty crazy for this side of the world.

I am in Johnstown, PA doing some testing of gear on a 30 foot high tower. We had the maximum tension applied (2000 pounds) while making detailed measurements. All of a sudden, things start shaking! At first, we thought it was the dynomometer that was applying tension, but the whole building was shaking. The tower was really going at it, and now I have a load of laundry to wash....

The epicenter was about 100 miles to the south of me.

Yikes. Glad to hear your all right Mid.

Don't worry about the laundry thing, I hear it only gets worse with age. Just kidding, kind of.

Yep last they reported it was downgraded to a 5.8 from 5.9. :hide I work in Capitol Heights, MD, it's just on the outskirts of DC, our building was shakin' pretty good. Evacuated us from it for about 30 minutes, let us back in and told us to take a break than to get back sorting the mail. It was time to go home by then. :pbj

The White House issued a statement and apparently there is a fault line that runs under Washington.

The fault line is named "Bush's fault"

Steve, that was February 9, 1971. I was living in Reseda at the time. I slept through it too (but I was only 6).

I remember that one, I woke up just minutes before it happened. I was living in Cypress at the time.

I need to call my parents to see if they felt it, they are in Friends PA now, about 30 miles SW of Midlife.
