5 down 35 to go

guruatbol

Always on vacation!
Well after 5 days of non stop rain, we only have 35 days left and my new almost built ark will start to float. Anyone who wants to come with must fly to Vegas and then take the shuttle to St. George and then we will pick you up if we can get out of the subdivision. Then you need to get your gold ready. We don't take dollars since they will be worth nothing in the new world we are to create.

Oh, better bring food, I only have enough for my family and the animals.

Oh, Kat gets in free! ;)

Seriously, it has been raining here with a warm Southern storm for five days straight. I have a walkout basement with everything graded away from the house and even I have some water seeping into my basement. This sucks. I already had to fix part of that area a couple months ago from the sewer issue. Now I have to move everything in that room and dry the carpet and padding. Not as bad since there is no sewage which will require new padding and all. But still a hassle.

Anyway, the bridge to the South that we must cross to get out is starting to wash out, the Northern route has a new stream rushing down the road just to the North of us washing out the road. Because it is just rain we only contend with mud, but tomorrow it is supposed to freeze. I am sure glad Amber still has the 2000 V10 Excursion. It has 4:31 Limited slip diffs under it and can go just about anywhere.

I don't have to go anywhere today, but tomorrow I will take Amber to work and finish Christmas shopping and then take her to the doctor.

Just watched Amber drive through the mess to the North. Hehehe, she did just what I told her, put it in 4x4 and then a steady speed right through it. It did make the Excursion go a bit sideways, but she went right through it no problem.

Whew, this is going to get serious if it continues much longer!

Be very careful crossing fast moving water Mel. Hydraulics are very powerful and can qucikly wash even a truck downstream.

Its a funny world at the moment.
Most of the populated parts of OZ are drowning in rain and have been for the last month.
We have just had 2 days of sunshine and the weather bureau predict 300 - 500mm of rain in the next few days.
Last week i couldnt get home down the coastal highway, so a 500km trip became 1200kms via the inland and the mighty Hilux went through 900mm of floodwater, up to the top of the bullbar.
I videod it on the iphone,
now i just have to figure how to post it.
Take care over there

Sorry you have to deal with such a mess Mel.
It's really odd, generally flooding in So. Utah occurs in the Spring.
Make sure you have room for a pair of ponies on the ark!

Heres my first effort at videoing with the iphone.
When the water covered the wipers i thought i should film it,, so i missed that bit.
The top of the bullbar is exactly 900mm high (3 foot 3 inches).

Um, before you get too excited.... I'm guessing your purpose there would be for procreation purposes. As long as you don't mind being pregnant for the next 15 years, welcome aboard!

Well. I am using the Droid since my phone and DSL is out. Qwest sucks. I have to crawl around in the mud to make sure my end is ok before they will do anything.

Arg! I really need it to stop raining.

Seriously be careful. I had two coworkers washed away in a flooded river.

Ok, the rain stopped and the real color of the sky is actually blue. There is some serious lag with the now restored internet connection.

The washed road on the North is still washed out and we have pot holes that are big enough to swallow up one of the Mustangs. Good thing both our vehicles are 3/4 ton or better.

Who knew that when the backhoe operator would dig up and break all the phone lines when he was attempting to fix the washed part of the bridge? Certainly not Qwest! When I called them to tell them, they threatened me with an $85 fee if they couldn't find anything wrong with their end. I really hate Qwest! I wish there was an alternative!!!!!

The road that is washed out was not very deep with running water, Amber just slid a bit sideways due to the slippery mud not the hydraulic action of the water. It was enough to wash out the road though.

Well now that the sun is out, all will be well at least until Wednesday when it is supposed to snow!
