Scary ride! After watching the in-car shots all I can say is big kudos to the safety team. They had foam on the car in less than 30 secs after it shut down!

Unfortunately, that's the way a lot of racing careers end. The safety guys appear to have done a heck of a job in this case though.

Growing up the guy that lived next door had been a drag strip guy in his younger days.

Not too long before he was going to marry his wife, his partner was driving their car in the quarter. Something went wrong and his partner hit the wall in a ball of fire.

After the wreck caused the death of his partner, his wife basically said it was racing or her. Since by the time I knew them the wife had put on a few hundred pounds I'd have to wonder if he ever regretted getting out of racing. :confu
