65 Trunk floor and drop-off questions

I hired these done along with lower 1/4 skins some years back, and today while under the rear cleaning and getting ready for a repaint, I see the left side is a hack job. I'm going to fix it, 'cause since doing the cowl I know I can do way better. The skin can be left alone, but the floor and drop-off needs to be replaced. Any tips, got yas, pics, etc from those who've been there would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Dennis

I did the quarter and drop off at the same time. I would just start cutting out the crap until you are satisfied. If you replaced a cowl then your drop off is cake.

That's why I didn't respond earlier.... there's nothing complicated about it. Might want to remove the fuel tank if it isn't already out. Remove only the damaged metal, leaving as much original metal as possible, blah, blah...

Do one side at a time, using the gas tank as an alignment tool to align the fastener holes along the edge of the gas tank to position the drop-off floors. I had a new tank that I used, so tack-welding the floor in place was safe and easy; removal of the tank allowed the complete welding to be done without damaging the tank.

OK. Thanks.
After some further looking, I think I'm gonna hafta do both sides, and maybe the cross brace and a little bit of work on the rails. I remember telling the last shop that I thought the rails were ok, but to look at them and tell me if they needed replaced. It looks like the shop cut the worst of the rust, and slapped the whole replacement floor on top of what they left. Bummer. I really wanted the rear end to not need work.
