67 Heater box install Question

I am just about to install my heater box and i have a question about it matching up with the cowl outlet.

There is a gap of roughly 1.5" between the heater box inlet and the cowl outlet. I got the thick circular foam seal that goes over the heater box inlet collar and presumed that there would be a collar on the cowl for it to fit over however the gap seems too big and with the seal pressed against the cowl there is only about 1/4" of the foam seal around the collar on the heater box. I checked the factory build guides and i dont seem to be missing any parts. Am i being a dumb ass or will some spray glue solve my problem?

Looks like you have the right parts. Not sure how much overlap any of mine had but they all worked once the box was completely installed and supported.

You see the bracket on the top right of the first picture? There's a screw that goes through the heater box into that bracket, tightening up the heater box up against the seal. Trust me, it'll seal tight. It looks like you might have to bend the "Z" bracket on the heater box, though...

my 67's have studs sticking out of the cowl. I don't see them on yours.
Here is a shot on the drag car where you can see one of the studs on the drivers side. IIRC there are three per side.

Yea, I have studs on the drivers side for the air vent assembly but the passenger side is just flat without studs. Do you have studs on the passenger side also?

No studs on the RH side. As what midlife mentioned, there is only one bolt which goes through the bracket in the upper RH corner of your pic, through the Z shaped bracket of the heater box. BTW, the Z bracket needs to be straightened up a little to align with the cowl bracket.

Remember that the three heater motor mounting studs is what really holds the heater box into place. Once you have roughed in the heater box with the heater motor bolts having gone through the firewall, then is the time to install the foam ring over the heater box collar. As you tighten the three heater motor bolts into place against the firewall, the heater box will move further into position, then you will be able to secure to bolt from the cowl bracket to the heater box z shaped bracket.
