67 Overhead console install?

My car did not come with a overhead console, but I picked one up on eBay. Now that my headliner is in the car, I'm ready to install the overhead console.

Here's my question...

Do I need to cut relief holes in the headliner for the back of the map light housings, or do the map light housings just press against an uncut headliner?

you shouldn't need to cut relief holes!?! Do you have the front and rear brackets already installed?
front...

Yeah, I installed both the front & rear brackets before installing the new headliner. I'm wondering if I stretched the headliner a bit too tight, because when the overhead console is is pressed against the headliner, the headliner does not touch the sides of the console. Maybe I just need to give it a little encouragement from the heat gun?

Thanks for your reply.
