67 Power Steering control valve questions

I am attempting to refurbish my friends 67 Ranchero Power Steering control valve. The steering gear box bearings were shot. We pulled that apart and replaced the bearings but when we pulled the control valve off, the ball stud pulled out. I have the control valve apart and a kit to rebuild it but the ball stud bronze bushing is kinda beat up. Should I try and clean it up or replace it? Also, have anyone used the clamp for the boot on the cylinder? I'm not sure how to compress it.

For the bushing, If your unsure replace it while its apart it will save the trouble later.
For the band, After installed I used a large pair of side cutters to crimp it tight.

Thanks guys. I'm going to order the bushing and be safe. I tried the side cutters, worked good. Thanks!
