68 turn signals

Put new turn signal switch in a 68 Mustang because horn contact broke off. Turn signals worked for a few hours then quit. Also put in a new flasher. If i step on brake pedal and flip on turn signal the corresponding brake light will go out. If i turn key on and leave turn signal on it will occasionally flash a few times then quit.

Did you follow this guide?

I would start by checking all the connections at the plug.

All connections are tight. Used old turn signal connector to hook up wires to new one. Have power to flasher orange wire with key turned on

You probably shorted out the new turn signal switch. It is easy to do, as the back side has rivet heads which can short to the steering column just behind it. Get a new TS switch and put electrical tape over the rivet heads and try again.
