I have the Unilite Distributor with a Promaster Coil. I wasn't getting any spark and I had a mechanic friend come look at it and he finally got it to spark, but it was weak. But since my battery was drained he told me just to charge it and try it later. Well, I checked it tonight, and it hadnt charged after more then 24 hours. So I took the cables off and put the charger straight onto the terminals. After a couple hours it showed it was charged. So I put the battery cables back on and went to start it but realized there was no power in the cab. So obviously its not gonna turn over. Whats going on? Short in the system that drained all power instantly keeping it from getting to the cab?

I'm assuming that you double-checked both of your battery connections? With your previously weak battery you had interior lights, but now after charging the battery you do not... leads me to believe the problem has to be related to the removal and reinstallation of the battery terminals from where you disconnected them in order to charge the battery.

Well when I had checked to see if it would start I didnt think about it at first but the door was open and no lights were on the whole time it was charging. Then I took the cables off. So....?

You would have most likely seen smoke with a sudden and quick complete discharge. Sounds like bad connections or cables. You need to check the grounds also..... Don't worry about the spark now until you get the battery to charge and provide power into the car.

Have you ever done a full wiring harness test for proper connections and such?

Your battery could have gone bad too. Put a full charge on it and run it by Auto Zone or so and have them check it.

I dont know how to do a full wiring harness test. I put the charger on it and it said full charge.

Take the battery to an auto parts store and have them do a load test on the battery. That will tell you if you have a known good battery. If that is good.....start checking wiring and connections.

On the harness, you need to disconnect it from the dash/engine/accessories and do a full ohms check. This tells you if the wires are in good shape. Also checking all the connectors is part of the job.

You can only take so many short cuts and wiring is not one to do it with..........

Ok, so finally getting power to the cab, tried another batter. Now, car wont turn over. We tried jumping it at the solenoid. Nothing happened but some sparks. When we finally got it to make some noise it was clicking sorta. We tried running power straight to the starter. It does nothing. I know the starter wire is shot.
