84 SVO

The party’s over

Crazy thing happened while sitting on the couch. As stated in "Whatcha Got" thread, we bought an unmolested 84 SVO last week. I'm now in the process of cleaning, replacing and documenting the history of the car.
A few boxes of "stuff" came with the car and as I went through it all I found original copies of "The Turbo Times" from the beginning of the SVOCA. original dealer brochures, owner's guide, Koni adjustment manual, a 3 ring binder full of mechanical repair sheets and notes from original owner and 3 large 1984 shop manuals cover every aspect of the car. The Marti sheet is there along with the car fax that helped me find the other previous owner. Now I know all 3 owners before me and have made contact with the original owner. He's coming to Ames this fall and we will hopefully meet up and get his stories first hand!

While working on removing the rear side panels to replace the seat belts, I found the build sheet. The car just keeps getting cooler!

Some pics so far.

Cool beans.....what's the game plan with this one Mark?
Keeping it as original as possible. Making it reliable enough to be a semi-daily driver. It’s really close to that already. I will need to reupholster the front seats, they’re pretty beat up and worn out. That’ll be a winter project. I hope to have it back on the road mid next week.

Dollar bills just falling out of your pockets when you walk out to the garage...

Talking about 2.3L turbo.
Years back , late 90's , my friend who always loved the fox body's , not to be confused with Samantha Fox , ask me to help him putting a 2.3L turbo of a 86 Mercury coupe into his 79 mustang. Remember in 79 there was also a 2.3L turbo but not fuel injection which made it hard to tune such a engine. With his carb and all those vacuum lines to adjust timing when the turbo was or wasn't engaged. So, he wanted that fuel injected 2.3L turbo of that 86 mercury coupe.
I must say it went very smooth in, except for the fuel line and pump. Other then that , had a great time working on this project.

You get those Pinto engines to breathe and then boost, they actually put out some power.

Will be fun for sure.

So after almost two weeks, I have it ready to drive again. Replaced parts that needed it and cleaned everything up as well as possible for now. Maiden voyage with SWMBO tomorrow.

The stock radio still works but I wanted to route the phone through the sound system. I came across this little adapter. You plug it into the lighter plug, tune to a “dead” station and BAM, you have tunes and hands free calling. I can’t believe it actually works!
