Got up early this morning and finished prepping the car for next Wed track day (that will more than likely get rained out according to the NWS). Once that was finished, Deb has wanted to get rid of some crappy bushes that are at the front of the house, blocking the view from the porch.
Fired up the tractor and re-attached the loader and rear blade (for counterweight). Grabbed the long chain and headed for the shrubbery. Got 5 of the 7 out with no problems. Number 6 apparently had a bone to pick with me! It did not want to exit the dirt so I backed the tractor up and precoded to dig around the perimeter to help cut some of the root system. As I was pushing down on the shovel handle with my boot, the rubber handle rolled and my boot slipped off. The left side of my face took the full force of the spring loaded shovel and and dang near knocked me out. As the birdies circling my head started to subside, I was thinking that it was too bad a camera was not recording this.
I did finish removing the last 2 bushes and everything is prepped to plant the replacement box hedges tomorrow. I have a very nice copy of a shovel handle appearing on my left face and it's still swollen.
Thought the day was done, took a shower, ate dinner and played a little catch/retrieve with Ansel (CCI puppy). Stupid me, I didn't have any shoes on and one of the throws, the dog did a nice burn out on the top of my right foot. Now I have deep gouges and no skin to go with the shiner. Thank goodness the day is over!
