Man, do I love spring in Kansas! Rings of fire everywhere you look.

Scary dude. I just lit a cedar tree tonight that I had cut and hauled for a guy. Stood by it enjoying a cold beer. What's burning in the pic?

The native grass (bluestem), we burn it off almost every year. It keeps the weeds out and replenishes the soil for the summer grasses, great for the cattle and continued growth of the grass.

My neighbor on 2 sides has 1,400 acres, once they burn that monster, then I can burn mine.

Gotta love fire :coo

Why not burn them together? After you burn the grass, whats left for deb to cut?

It is a well organized group of "locals" that do the burning of the large tracts. Everyone stands at the ready till the "old guy" says it's time to burn and away they go. They don't want / need an "outsider" helping.

Once they burn, I can burn mine without the chance of a wildfire starting.

Don't burn the fescue around the house, just the bluestem in the pastures. The fescue is spring & fall grass and the native (bluestem) is the summer grass. It allows the cattle to graze from April to November.
